Heros?

Who is your favourite hero (excluding Jesus and all Bible figures)?

Mine is General Robert E. Lee. Lee was a humble Christian man who did what he believed to be his duty, knowing that it might cost him all that he possessed and loved in this world.

Here is part of a letter he wrote his wife. He was, at the time, in the middle of a horrible war defending his country (Virginia) from invasion. He wrote the following after receiving news of the death of his beloved daughter:

I cannot express the anguish I feel at the death of my sweet Annie. To know that I shall never see her again on this earth is agonizing in the extreme. But God in this, as in all things, has mingled mercy with the blow, in selecting that one best prepared to leave us. May you be able to say with me, 'his will be done.'

My hero is Jonathan Edwards!

Second on my list is probably John Calvin, and definitely Luther is up there too (except for his views on jews!).

Don't forget in the top ten (drum roll)... John Piper!

I don't know if I have a favorite hero. But I think I'll join with you on this one, Kenith. Lee is certainly one of my top favorites. Or maybe I'll join cyg on Bruce Lee.
