Here's my problem, I believe in evolution, and it brings up doubts especially in the OT...

So people who are applying for research grants in their specific fields of expertise is self interest and trumps science? Would you prefer that they apply for grants outside their fields if expertise?

Please read my post again. I did not blame the applicant for applying. I blamed the bureaucrat for expecting unbiased reviews from people with a self interest in getting all the available funds for their institution.

Thanks for the clarification. I see what you mean. :)

“Oil exploration under the catastrophist paradigm,” Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists Conference, December (2002).
Your worried about "Caribou disturbances" when we develop our resources in Alaska. There are lots of laws to protect the wildlife and we should be concerned because they are all a part of God's creation. But should we not be more worried about the disturbances they cause for us as we develop our resources? My son has done some camping in Alaska, and twice he has had his tent tore up by bears that smell some sort of food and they are looking for it.

I would suggest that it depends upon where published and what evidence it presents to support its contents.
If a creationist is published it depends but if a evolutionist is published then it is rock solid indisputable evidence? Ye olde double standard rears it's ugly head again.

That is not what I said. Again: "I would suggest that it depends upon where published and what evidence it presents to support its contents." There are a number of so-called peer review journals not even related to creationism that don't meet the actual criteria for actual peer review. That is, they have reviewers reviewing research outside their area of expertise. One such journal would be "Environment and Energy".

I had to back into the OT through my faith in Jesus Christ. I firmly believe, through both reason and revelation that Jesus is the incarnation among men of God almighty.
I do not think very many people argue against the incarnation simply because they have no idea what it means. Anymore then they know what it means to be Baptized in or filled with the Holy Spirit. They do not even understand what Logos is or means, must less are they able to conceptualize what part God may play in the equation.

You do not have to wonder, he listed his publications so you can go read them and check them out for yourself. I was looking at his publication for protecting the wildlife as they develop our resources in Alaska. The wildlife protection laws are very strict in Alaska, so this is something people are very concerned with.

What Trumps the Interests of Science?

Around the end of the 20th Century, the Department of Energy (DOE) conducted a review of the proposals for hundreds of millions of dollars in annual DOE funding. One of the bureaucrats came up with a fascinating idea: They always had trouble getting qualified expert reviewers for these proposals, so he submitted all the grant proposals to the government lab and university proposers for ranking.

My boss at that time indexed the rankings by the source (which lab or university). All proposers/rankers rated their own lab’s or university’s proposals above all others submitted!

It may be obvious to some, but the answer to the question in the title above is: Self interest trumps the interests of science, even among designated peer reviewers!

Sounds pretty obvious to me, which defeats the vaunted peer review process that science uses to ‘keep itself honest’.

Authors don't review their own papers, so your criticism is way off. Papers are reviewed by experts in the field who work at different universities and labs.

Peer reviewed papers aren't grant applications.

Grants and papers are not reviewed by the authors, or by their colleagues at their work place. Conflicts of interest are seriously considered when picking reviewers for grants and papers.

In order to publish science you have to do the science first. What experiments have creationists done that can be published?

Where did you get this idea of how publishing works, RichG. My experience and the experience of others publishing in academia is that the very minute you publish, regardless of what it is about, everyone comes at you with daggers ready to criticize the hell out of you. When people come to a novel, they look forward to enjoying it. When academics come up against the publications of their brethren, they are out for the kill.

Nor should anyone suppose that their commitment to theism and creationism was only because they were not yet acquainted with modern philosophies. Many were strong opponents of Darwinism (Agassiz, Pasteur, Lord Kelvin, Maxwell, Dawson, Virchow, Fabre, Fleming, etc.). Even those who lived before Darwin were strong opponents of earlier evolutionary systems, not to mention pantheism, atheism, and other such anti-supernaturalist philosophies, which were every bit as prevalent then as now.

Only Pasteur, and Agassiz rejected Darwin's theory.

Agassiz also insisted that Africans were sub-humans with "brains with the same development as a 12 year old European."

PS: Pasteur was not at all the originator of vaccinations. Creationists are not good sources of any facts.

You can live in a unrealistic, egotistical world if you like to, but the facts still remain.

Maybe you should take it up with some of the Nobel Peace Prize winners

Charles H. Townes (1915-2015): In 1964 he won the Nobel Prize in Physics and in 1966 he wrote The Convergence of Science and Religion.[164][165]

Name a single scientist who has won a Nobel prize for showing how God changes the universe around us in any discernible fashion.

k so I have to admit I haven't read through this whole thing cause it's long & tbh it kinda weirds me out. Are ppl now saying they believe in GIANTS?
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my post, but what I'm saying is, the most important thing that any of us will do in our lives is decide that Jesus is God and come to Him, or decide that He was just a lunatic, or worse yet, a "guru" or "spiritual guide or teacher". People all have different individual stumbling blocks keeping them from flying into the arms of Jesus Christ, and it is an act of will and faith that is different for all of us to get over whatever those stumbling blocks are, because if we don't, we're missing out on The Way, The Truth and The Life. For some, that stumbling block is a problem with the Old Testament of the Bible. If that is a person's stumbling block, as it was for me at first, I was recommending what worked for me, and that was to approach the Old Testament at first THROUGH Christ. (The New Testament, The living Word of God). Once I had gotten past the harder part of that, THEN I went into a more focused study, and leaned about modes of literature, types of books, the context of the times, hyperbole, typology, etc. etc. etc. But to this day, what is most important to me about the OT, is that Jesus inspired it through His Holy Spirit, and quoted it all during the incarnation. So if one can start with cross referencing His quotes from the Torah and Talmud, then that might be ONE method of beginning to approach some of the Old Testament books. Then once one is secure in the fact they all essentially point to Christ, and become more secure in their faith in Christ, and if one prays for increases in faith, hope and charity, then the stumbling blocks one might trip over in the OT will be removed, and we may better understand what the proper take away is from OT Scripture is in reference to the Word becoming flesh and living among us. Your mileage may vary. It was a helpful approach for me in my individual journey to Jesus.
