You know that there was a time that the Bible did not exist and the only thing that the Church had was her Traditions: out of this came the Bible. The Bible is not the revelation of divine truth, that is reserved alone for Jesus Christ. Both Tradition and scripture come from the Holy Spirit who it is said would teach us all things, "The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name - he will teach you everything and remind you of all that (I) told you. (Jn 14.26)"
We are also told in 2 Thess. 2.15 that we must hold to what we have read from the apostles or the things that they have passed onto us orally, "Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an oral statement or by a letter of ours." And in 1 Tim. 2.15 Paul admits that the Church is the pillar of Truth, "But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth." So the Bible is not the sole conveyor of truth God alone is who has revealed that truth to the Church which she passes down from age to age. Who has, as its inspired authorities that testify to the Revelation of Jesus Christ to man, both Scripture and Tradition which both equally flow from the fount of the Holy Spirit, bear testimony to each other, and clarify each other when one becomes difficult to understand.

And? Jesus was speaking of a particular type of tradition . . . the traditions of men . .

He wasn't speaking of ALL traditions, for there is also SACRED Tradition, which Jesus UPHELD and APPEALED TO as AUTHORITATIVE!

And Paul tells us also about Sacred Tradition, for he tells us to

2 Thessalonians 2:15
Stand fast and hold to the TRADITIONS you have been taught, whether by word (spoken) or by our epistle (written).

TWO TRADITIONS we are to hold to . . SPOKEN and written, clearly commanded in scripture!


It is a grave error to lump all "tradition" as "traditions of men" . . . this is an error fundamentalists fall into all the time . .. it skews their understanding to the point of rejecting the command of scripture to STAND FAST AND HOLD to the TRADITIONS Christians were taught by the Apostles. . whether by spoken word, or in writing (writings which became our New Testament).
