I know we have one brother here who is intimately familiar with Pastor Don Fortner's gospel ministry. Well, it was through Pastor Fortner that I became familiar with Pastor Henry Mahan. I listen to his sermons almost every day now.

Does anyone here know Pastor Mahan personally?

I haven't seen him in the years since he retired and moved to Rocky Mount Virginia to be with his son but I knew him well when he was still in Ashland Kentucky.

His 30 minute messages that were put on TV are great. You can probably still get them from Pastor Tom Harding in Pikeville, Kentucky.

I am just curious: What was he like in person? He could be fiery, but tender and compassionate, and always passionate in the pulpit.

Many of them are on the Sermon Audio website.

He was one of the most approachable and humble men I ever knew. He had enormous influence among other pastors and was looked up to by all yet never allowed that influence to go to his head. I never knew him to take advantage of anyone and was instrumental in starting several churches.

The whole Free Grace Radio term is pretty awesome. Darvin Pruitt speaks the truth plainly, Todd Nibert has a way of conveying the truth with power.

Praise God for all of the mightily preachers on Free Grace Radio!

Henry Mahan has a way of making a point quickly, thoroughly, and simply and grabbing my attention. Probably developed from having to do radio with it's time restraints. Great teacher/preacher. One of the sermons that really hit me was one concerning the federal headship of Adam.
I've listened to lots of Don Fortner and love his passion and zeal. But sometimes find he'll grab a text and get too allegorical. He's a funny guy. Sometimes he'll speak concerning the monkey in Rome dressed in drag, or other such idioms that make me burst out laughing. Or when he speaks of "that great patriot General Lee." It's fun to have a window on different regions and cultures. Just my 2 cents, his congregation is blessed to have him.
