Yes. First, though, read this from the Scriptures, that Yahshua (Jesus) said.
Luk 11:9-13 MKJV
(9) And I say to you, Ask and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened to you.
(10) For everyone who asks receives. And he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks it shall be opened.
(11) For what father of you, if the son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a snake for a fish?
(12) Or if he shall ask for an egg, will he give him a scorpion?
(13) If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
When you ask your Father in heaven for a gift he has offered his children, you do not need to fear receiving anything harmful. Be single minded on this, having faith in this promise, when you ask, if there is any concern about what you'll receive.
He said "how much more SHALL your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?"
This is also another example from the Scriptures that shows this gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8) is separate from being born of the Spirit and him working in us as a new creation.
Mar 11:24 MKJV
(24) Therefore I say to you, All things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and it will be to you.
Scriptural examples of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues from the book of Acts:
Act 2:4 MKJV
(4) And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Act 10:44-46 MKJV
(44) While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those hearing the Word.
(45) And those of the circumcision, who believed (as many as came with Peter), were astonished because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the nations also.
(46) For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
Act 9:17 AMP
(17) So Ananias left and went into the house. And he laid his hands on Saul and said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, Who appeared to you along the way by which you came here, has sent me that you may recover your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
1Co 14:18 KJVR
(18) I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
Act 19:6 MKJV
(6) And as Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.
The only example of the baptism of the Holy Spirit people in Acts are specifically stated to have received and we aren't told they spoke in tongues anywhere in the Scriptures, was the Samaritans. However, we are told that there was something outwardly evident that caused Simon magus to know that they had received by the laying on of the apostles' hands.
Act 8:16-18 MKJV
(16) For as yet He had not fallen on any of them, they were baptized only in the name of the Lord Jesus.
(17) Then they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
(18) And when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,

θεάομαι
theaomai
theh-ah'-om-ahee
A prolonged form of a primary verb; to look closely at, that is, (by implication) to perceive (literally or figuratively); by extension to visit: - behold, look (upon), see. Compare G3700.
Simon perceived the evidence, and since the Scriptures intepret the Scriptures, we can properly interpret that what Simon perceived was the Samaritans speaking in tongues and magnifying God like all the others in Acts. There is no reason to assume that the outward sign was any different in Samaria than with the other examples.
I have been thorough in pointing you to all of these things in the Scriptures, so that your faith may be in the Word, firmly, that you may ask with single minded faith knowing you ask according to the will of your Father in heaven.
Joh 16:23-24 MKJV
(23) And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Truly, truly, I say to you, Whatever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give you.
(24) Before now you have asked nothing in My name; ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
Joh 14:12-14 KJVR
(12) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
(13) And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
(14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Joh 15:7-11 AMP
(7) If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you.
(8) When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.
(9) I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me].
(10) If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love and live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father's commandments and live on in His love.
(11) I have told you these things, that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy and gladness may be of full measure and complete and overflowing.
Jas 1:6-8 AMP
(6) Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting). For the one who wavers (hesitates, doubts) is like the billowing surge out at sea that is blown hither and thither and tossed by the wind.
(7) For truly, let not such a person imagine that he will receive anything [he asks for] from the Lord,
(8) [For being as he is] a man of two minds (hesitating, dubious, irresolute), [he is] unstable and unreliable and uncertain about everything [he thinks, feels, decides].
If we are struggling with double-mindedness over an issue, we should feed on the Word and hear it until our faith is certain on the matter. Then we will ask in faith and receive what we ask for according to the promise of the Word, which is truly Father's will.
Now to the samle prayer: "My Father in heaven, may your name be sanctified, your kingdom come and your will be done in this earth as in heaven. I thank you for the great work of the Holy Spirit to make me a new creation in Messiah. Now I ask for the gift, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that I may glorify you. I ask for the same work of the Holy Spirit that your children written about in the book of Acts received. I thank you that you are no respecter of persons, but love all of your children, and have made this promise to us all. Thank you for the baptism of the Holy Spirit! I believe I receive this promise from you. HalelluYah (praise you Yah), the Giver of good gifts to us!"
If you are a child of God in Messiah, born of the Spirit, and ask this according to the Scriptures I've quoted, you will receive. The Holy Spirit will move in and on you, filling you and overflowing you with his work, and he will give you utterance, in tongues, and possibly also in English, to prophesy. The Holy Spirit will not speak for you, but will move on you giving you the utterance. You have to obey to do the speaking according to the utterance being deposited in you (spirit). Don't be concerned or comparitive about your utterance. He gives you according to his will for you - he will give different utterance to different children.
Your natural thinking will most likely argue with this, not wanting to be overtaken by such, but wanting to stay in control as its own god/master.
Take a lesson from the natural creation, in type and shadow. The wind blows through the tree, and the leaves are not stiffened against it, but move with it, fluttering in the wind. So is it to be with you, and your tongue. The branches even sway in the wind. But the harder things of the earth, those things greatly hardened, will not move with the wind, but resist it. So does the hardened heart resist the moving of the Holy Spirit. May your heart be softented sufficiently by the grace of God, and may you find that where the Holy Spirit is (in control) there is freedom (liberty). Being hardened and stiffened is like rebellion - take no part in it.
I pray the anointing in my life for the praying for others, including laying on of hands when possible, for the receiving of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, be upon this message for you, and your faith be excited to receive.
I look forward to your coming testimonies.
Your servant in Messiah,
David
