Somebody please help. I've been receivng IM's from not so nice people. It pops up on my screen with a warning from AOL, that a person from the outside of Aol has sent an IM and do I want to accept or not. Well, the problem is that before I accept the IM or not, I don't know if it is somebody from this website or not trying to contact me. I wouldn't have so much of a problem with it if I weren't a Mod here. I mean IM is a good way for members to get in touch with me. But at the same time, I'm tired of these IM's that want me to go see a certain "website", So my question is, is there a way that I can block IM's that are sent from outside of AOl, without blocking the IM's of folks from this website. Something like, blocking all IM, except the ones from my buddy list and the IM's from the folks here at Christian Forums? Is there an option that would allow me to type in this websites name, like the buddy list? Because I really wouldn't want to have to go through each member's name and manually add screen names to my buddy list, that would take a very very long time

Does this make any sense?

Yes, I do understand what you mean. And no, there is no way to add all of the people from CF without doing it mannualy. Although, you can block people not on your buddy list but then you would have to rely on PM.

Thanks, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. Although it just hit me that I haven't ask the Almighty Lord to make it go away.......DOH!!!!

If you have sent anyone a cute little email from those sites like cutelittleemails.com, they usually take your email address and sell it to spammers, who can easily find out when you're online and hit you with those spam IM's. It's very easy on AOL.

No, no. There's no way for the screenname to be associated with a website.

I recommend just get rid of that account, or get a new ISP! (internet service provider, like AOL).

Now that I think about it, it probably is easy to get my Screen Name from my email considering that they are the same All they gotta do is try it out Oh well, will do something soon, still praying about it

Also, spammers send emails much the same way telemarketers dial phone numbers. If you get a spam email that says to reply if you want to unsubscribe (making you believe you subscribed to a certain site), and you reply, they know your address is real and they go from there.

Has anyone ever been trolled in AIM? I have. A few days ago, this person who really needs to get a life started sending me IMs, then has left me alone since the day before yesterday.

The person's screen name is "Gotta Love Islam" and his trolling began as very frightening terror threats, degenerated into silliness, then into utter blasphemy and hotchat.
