• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Please see a good psychiatrist with experience in treating addiction. There are good ones out there. There are also medications that can help curb the cravings, one is Campral which I can say works! Librium is the choice for detoxing but you have to be careful not to trade one addiction for another. There are good programs out there if you cannot stop on your own then you will need to be hospitalized. A drug regimen of Campral to curb the cravings with Antabuse to prevent a binge on the spur of the moment can help!
Best wished and many prayers!

Thank you so much for your prayers and advise! I have been on tranq's and anti-depressants for years - and just had my annual physical - my blood is good! :amen: My doctor has prescribed Lunestar to help me sleep - it helps me relax without putting me to sleep - even if I am restless - I can lay there without sleeping.
If I have more trouble I will ask him about Campral - God bless you - Hedi

You really want to be careful going through withdrawals, especially alcohol. It is the only one that you can die from. I had to go through heroin withdrawal on my own and it was tough!. It lasted 3 weeks and when you are going through it, it feels like you want to die, and all that you need is just a sip. But it never stops there. So get some support. Also, go to your doctors and get some anxiety pills, like liberium or Valuim and that will help ease the withdrawals. I'll be praying for you.
