  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You know that really yummy white cheese dip you get in good mexican restaurants? Does anyone have a recipe for it? One of the waiters told me they used Land O Lakes White American Cheese, but I don't think it's available to the general public...

:help:

In what part of the country to Mexican restaurants have white cheese dip?  I've lived on the West, in the midwest and back East and have never seen any thing like this. Land o Lakes white American cheese doesn't sound very Mexican to me. Queso Quesadilla is a good white Mexican cheese for melting. Queso Fresco is a tasty white mild cheese which crumbles easily, but doesn't melt as smoothly. Queso Blanco is another good white mild cheese which gets soft and creamy when heated but doesn't melt like American cheese. Another good substitute for Mexican cheese is Monterey Jack, its white, mild, melts well and has a great flavor.

Well, I live in Tennessee and nearly every mexican restaurant around my area has it on their menu. I'm not talking chain restaurants like Chi-Chi's or anything...the restaurants I'm talking about are family owned, family run type places. LOL, it may not be very 'mexican' but it IS really, really, really good. :yum:

BTW, I called Wal-Mart and they do have it in the deli...thanks for the tip.

It's probably a regional thing. I currently live in Michigan, and here every Mexican place has "wet burritos." It's a burrito covered with a red sauce (kind of a mix between a red mole sauce and an enchilada sauce) and then everything is covered with a pound of melted orange chedder cheese. We don't really have anything like that where I grew up in California, though sometimes we'll put chili verde on the inside of a burrito and on top, with some white mexican cheese or monterey jack. A lot of mexican restaurants cater to the local traditions and tastes.
