• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

 you knoe what...... i do feel guilt for everything realli. i am even scared little actions might cause someones anorexia. like for example: like if i won 1st postition in a atlete competition that is really significant, would it get others to feel insecure/depressed/angry, etc, and maybe that would push them over to be full blown anorexic. like they had other factors causing anorexia, but this situation causes them to be reallyreally anorexic....? i am so scared of anything i do , in case it affect others. because i don't want anyone to get an ED. i dunno. i am just so lost and scared.

do you this things like this example about the competition and borderline anorexic. do you think it can be true. and am i bad to win 1st prise, should i let them win?

i cna't even live and be happy. if i think this way. im so unhappy. gets me so frustrated, i have to think so hard before doing anything....

sigh, i am so not normal for thinking these weird thoughts. why do i think these frustrating thoughts?! i hate it.do you guys ever think these weird thoughts?

I don't think you're alone with your thoughts, but it's worth remembering that everyone has to be responsible for their own choices. You can't make someone else do something or believe something. It's something they have choose. Don't take on false responsibility - it makes life a dragand doesn't help anyone.
take care.

myquestions, it seems that you are spending a lot of time worrying about whether or not you might influence someone to have an Eating Disorder. Is there something that has happened that has made you feel this way? Is there someone who now has an ED that you felt you might have triggered?

You need to remember that while, yes, we can trigger people, an ED is a huge thing. You can't just "become anorexic" after seeing a skinny girl. It takes a lot more than that. It's an illness, yes, but at the beginning it's a choice. You choose to starve, you choose to binge - even though it's not always a choice when you are caught up in it, that's how it began. You can't make someone anorexic - that's their choice.

EDIT: Carrying on with that train of thought -- what if you could make someone recover through your own actions? Have you considered trying recovery (if you have an ED - I remember right when you first became a member you said you didn't, but recently I thought I read somewhere that you said you did, I'm confused - sorry if I'm totally wrong! :) ) and hopefully helping someone else to try recovery through your own actions? Of course, it's a choice once again, but if you could influence someone to try recovery, perhaps then they might realise that's what they want and need?

I used to feel guilty about EVERYTHING as well. There are 2 sides of guilt. 1 is conviction. 2 is from the devil trying to get in your head and make you think things that are far from being true.

Let's talk about "1". Well, maybe this is your key to recovery? Maybe you're begining to realize that you CAN'T do this on your own (handle life)... or handle it through an eating disorder. God is the one who can take it away completely. He's the only way you can win through it.
This is one way he got through me. If all the people that I influence on a daily basis knew I practiced doing these unhealthy habits, how would I feel if they started doing them as well? I would hate that. That is one aspect of why I was encouraged to stop.

But then again in "2"... the devil will try to confuse you and he will be hiding in certain things because he doesn't want to be seen that he is responsible for those actions because then if a christian knew, then he knew what would happen in the name of JESUS! If you're doing what is of God, then you have nothing to worry about. If you're not, then pray and read your bible to get more answers. If you're unsure if you're doing the right or wrong thing... dig into the word of God for that is the only way to find stuff out.

I'm going to pray for you girl! Everything will be okay. :) It will. Just trust in your heavenly father.
