  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As Christians we are not pagans and only worship our one true God. Our heavenely father. In my opinion getting tattoos as a way to symbolise your love for God or important moments in your life is acceptable.

Leviticus was written for the isralites regarding pagan egyptians who used to cut their bodies for the dead and tattoo profane images onto their body.

I have three tattoos and plan on getting more.

I had the same questions myself when I was younger, I have had my tattoos now for 2 years and haven't looked back since. On my forearm is a crown of thorns and on my left shoulder is a cross.
I plan on getting the alpha and omega soon, and a few others.

^ this is an artistic view of my tattoo I did.

In my life I have done some very bad things and hurt a good many people and some of these things, I can't make up for, No matter how much I would like. The damage is permanent..
So I got this tattoo of thorns, as my way of reminding myself of what I have done, and that like the things I have done, this will be with me until the day I die.
I wish I could change the past but because I can't I'll bear my sins in my arm so that I will never forget and try to live my life to the best as I can. Jesus bore our sins on the cross, and the crown of thorns bears witness to this. It's my way of remembering.

Hi! This is my first post on this forum, cool. :)

If you're going strictly Bible wise, then I would have to say no due to Leviticus chapter 19, verse 28, although there are many other things that Leviticus forbids that mostly everyone does. I'm not saying that it means you should though, if that's your belief. My opinion is just to think about this in depth and do what feels right.

Personally though, I wouldn't. Just because I probably wouldn't be able to handle the pain well and I enjoy showing my personality through my clothing and the way I act, etc. I also love to chat, and I'm an open person, so people seem to know a good amount about me after a short time talking.

Anyway, enough rambling, I hope you enjoy your tattoo, if you decide to get it. :)

The problem with the Leviticus verse is the following: Galatians 3:17-28. We aren't under the Law any more. So if a tat glorifies God and promotes Kingdom growth, then get it. If it doesn't, don't.

To anyone wanting to follow the Levitical law(which is HEALTHY, but not necessary), then you must wear tunics or something made of one fabric only. Leviticus 19:19 states you can't wear a garment made of two or more materials. Your jeans and a t-shirt is a sin.

About two months ago when I was writing my exams; I had the money available to me to get the tattoos I’ve wanted since I was first a Christian. I was planning to get six;

• One small cross on my upper left arm.
• “When you see only two sets of footprints it was then that I carried you”. On my left arm
• “Jesus” in Bold font on the inside of my left arm
• “If this life I lose, I will follow you” on my right arm
• “Christ” in bold on the inside of my right arm
• John 3:16 on my chest
• A big cross on my back
I had the plans; I met an awesome Artist, plans were drawn and a price was mentioned. But then God started to speak to me; He said, “It is the things I do that make you mine and not the things you do”; he subsequently told me that I would be punished if I disobeyed his wishes for me not to get a tattoo and that this punishment would be so severe that it would appear that there would be no solution and then after I have been punished he would save me from the punishment.

I could have gotten the tattoos but it would be a permanent reminder of my disobedience.

An old prophet (I’ve known him for 19 years and He has never been wrong. Never) told me that the colors, “Black” and “Red” are the Devil’s colors and I would be defiling the blood of Christ if I had it tattooed on myself.

My younger friends are always skeptical of this prophet; but He has never been wrong and I will stick by what he said because I know him so well. When I say never wrong; I mean this dude will say maybe six things and in a day they will all come to pass exactly as he says.

Sometimes I'll say something and God would have told him exactly what I would say and he would have it written down on a piece of paper.

Anyway; your choice

It's not about being religious, it's about not trying to disobey the Creator... Honestly. I'm not even a religion. I'm not a Christian, I don't follow Judaism, I don't follow anything. I follow the whole Bible, not just half of it...

Also, he asked for opinions on what to do. I gave him mine. If he wanted to decide for himself, then he wouldn't have asked for opinions, simple as that.

If you believe in the whole bible then why cant you say God (instead u write G-d)? i c this in all your posts and im just curious

In relation to inserting permanent colors in our bodies I would be cautious, I would be especially cautious with something so permanent.

But you know what? I believe the blood of Jesus covers all my possesions :]

I shared me experience so I’m not longer burdened if you go ahead and do something foolish.

Just research it first. Tattoos don’t rub off, they are for life. I might be wrong but God spoke to me more clearly than you just communicated to me and he gave me confirmation several times immediately when I asked him.

Personally I love all colors (asides from pink) and I really loved tattoos because I wanted one since I knew about them.

But I obey God and everything He tells me.

Mock me if you want; I encourage it if it will make you feel better. But I love you and I would hate for you to live in regret because of a mistake like getting a tattoo uninformed.

I’ve said my peace. Feel free to do what you want. (Just seek the heart of the Father on this matter; don't take anyone's word for it. A 100 people will say a hundred different things but the words of God remain forever so speak to Him and see what He has to say)

Ya ik about the dangers and cautions of getting a tattoo, I am still neutral on the view. But what you said about a prophet that said red and black defiles the blood of Christ i believe was misinterpreted. Because you know all man fail at some time and there is no such thing as a perfect man, besides Jesus, so henceforth I would ask him again and see what he says.
