  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If i did get a tattoo i would get some sort of christian symbol or devotion to GOD or JESUS, but im not sure if it is right for me as a christian to go ahead with it. Please can I have your thoughts and opinions thanks guys.

Well I don't know a whole lot about tattoos. I'm 15, never have had any interest in getting tattoos, piercings or anything like that. But the fact that it will be displaying a christian message I think makes it ok. But don't tattoos like last all your life? Once you get them is it possible to remove them???

yes they are permanent which is one reason i personally would not get one. Originally God told the Israelites not to do tattoos and wierd piercings because that was one of the ways the pagans worshipped.

There's nothing wrong with getting tattoos or piercings as a christian. (assuming you arent going to get 666 tatooed across your head or something)

However, getting tattoos is a big commitment. Even if it is religous, make sure you are 100% sure you want it. It will be really hard or even impossible to get it removed if you change your mind later.

I don't think getting tattoos, especially Christian one is wrong, since Christianity is all about the inside and not the outside. Of course you don't wanna fill your body or arms with tattoos since thats simply ugly.

Eh y not?
My husband is wanting one and at first i was like have you lost your mind??
but only because i had associated that with certain things, now he explained to me why and what he wanted, which is a lily wrapped in thorns inspired by the verse in song of solomon as the lily among thors so is my love among the daughters, which is his favorite bible verse...i think it is ok just follow your own personal conviction on this, read the word of God and see what that says before you make a decision based on what man says even if we do post a scripture, read to show yourself approved...

Leviticus 19:28
" Don't cut gashes in your flesh when someone dies or tattoo yourselves; I am ADONAI."

'Nuff said.

Tattooing is a Pagan practice, my friend, it always has been. So, if you tattoo something relevant to G-d on your body, you are essentially trying to glorify him in a Pagan way, which just doesn't really make sense if you think about it...

Christmas and easter are pegan to and the bible says alot about pegan practices so if you wanna make a dicision on that look and read that stuff up for yourself, show yourself approved..

Yes, you are right, they are very Pagan... So, I don't recommend celebrating them either.

But, to the OP:
I honestly don't think tattoos are exactly something G-d is cool with...

He also isnt cool with worring about being religious and instead more about a relationship with him.
It's not about being religious, it's about not trying to disobey the Creator... Honestly. I'm not even a religion. I'm not a Christian, I don't follow Judaism, I don't follow anything. I follow the whole Bible, not just half of it...
Not trying to start anything i just think they should figure it out themselves, nothing wrong with input just think people need to find and then decide for themselves
Also, he asked for opinions on what to do. I gave him mine. If he wanted to decide for himself, then he wouldn't have asked for opinions, simple as that.

If you really want to and have really thought about it, then I'd say go for it. Tattoos can be a beautiful form of self expression and just quietly, I don't think that God really cares whether you decide to etch a picture onto yourself or not.

But don't get a religious tattoo just because you think you have to if you're going to be tattooed at all because it might be seen as wrong in the eyes of God. Get something you really like and can see yourself not regretting in the future. Who knows, your religious views may change with time. I'd also suggest waiting until you're eighteen.
