sorry Liz, I am pretty sure it is 1 Thess 4:17....{harpagasometha} literally "caught up." The word "rapture" does not occur in the English, but "rapiemur" in the Latin, translated as "caught up" in most English translations (including KJV).

See FF Bruce's most excellent comments in the Word Biblical Commentary Series, 1 and 2 Thess.

Hi everyone my name is cameron and i need some help. I was wondering if anyone could tell me where in the Bible does it talk about The Rapture. If someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks:)
Revelation or the bible does not teach this "doctrine", but it does teach perserverance of the saints. The dead aren't raised untill after the tribulations it appears and they are shown dying through it.
All I can say is just read and study the Bible brethren. God bless.:preach:

reve 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" 11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both [the number of] their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they [were,] was completed.

This looks like the "rapture" to me.

reve 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then [I saw] the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received [his] mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This [is] the first resurrection.

psalm 116: 15 Precious in the sight of the LORD [Is] the death of His saints. 16 O LORD, truly I [am] Your servant; I [am] Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD. 18 I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people, 19 In the courts of the LORD's house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!

Many proponents of the Rapture point to 1 Thessalonians. Yet 2 Thessalonians seems to be a letter that warns against an interpretation of a Rapture that takes all of the saved out of this world before the Anti-Christ comes and does his thing. In 2 Thessalonains 2, Paul warns that "the day of the Lord" will not come until the man of lawlessness (or, in some manuscripts, the man of sin) is revealed and the rebellion occurs.

I hope that at least gives you some new information.

for the new guy to understand what you posted , he first has to understand "
1. millenialism : pre - mid - post triulation theories of the parousia ... 2nd coming [ church leaves at first , midway , or after the tribulation ]

2. resurrection of spirit , resurrection of the body , first and second death...
death of flesh ; death of spirit - hell

3. many things are implied , not named .... " trinity " for example is implied in the epistles of John - 3 bear witness ; in the baptism of John - God , Jesus, holy spirit ; in the words of Jesus - one like him to come , my father ...

4. for the antichrist , false prophet , and beast to fulfill the abomination of desolation [ rebuild the temple , set himself up as high priest , prophet, and god ... defile the temple , take over the world .. ] the opposition of the church has to " wane "

5. yes there are saints left behind , who are born again due to the torment of their flesh by 2 witnesses , 7 vials poured out on the earth , and beheaded for not taking the mark of the beast

6. some belive in the " rapture " ; others feel we must " suffer " on earth , like the verses in Zech 13.8 ; Isaiah 48.10 to be purified for heaven

7. either way , we have read the end of the book , Jesus comes back , and we win ... amen ?
