I have to do a research paper on capital punishment. I do not know whether to be for or against it. what should I do?

I say for it. My reasoning is because Yhwh is just. Though Christianity today has shaped him into being so compassionate, that He seems week, He is still the same as he was in the Old Testament. Yhwh is constant, He doesn't change, and never will. He punishes those who are wicked, so that those that love him do not have to endure their wickedness... I mean, if a person has killed many people, they certainly do not deserve to live. You can forgive them, but justice must also be dealt. If one is not just, then lawlessness easily abounds in his life.
Maybe that helped.
Maybe not.
But, that's where I stand.

I say capital punishment is entirely biblical. The bible is clear that the government does not bear the sword in vain. (implying of course, that it bears the sword)

One argument I always hear is that it 'devalues the worth of human life.' On the other hand I believe the opposite, it upholds the value of human life. Since when is 20 years in prison a valid payment for a life?
