I need prayer/advice really bad. I am currently in the military. In 90 days my contract is up. I cant figure out if I am supposed to reenlist or go to a missionary training school. I feel that both causes are just. Everyday I change my mind. I feel that leaving the military would be like turning my back on my brothers and staying in would be like turning my back on God please pray for me to make the right decision.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

90 days is still quite a bit of time. God will show you what you should do. You will not be turning your back on your brothers if you leave the military. If they are truly your friends, they will not see it that way. I would never turn my back on my brothers, and I surely would never turn my back on God. Choose to serve the higher purpose, always. God bless you and your fellow soldiers and all you do for this country.

I will lift you up in prayer and ask that you receive guidance in discerning God's will in your life. He gives us the desire and the accomplishment (Phillipians) and surely will show you the way.
I would not feel that your choice amounts to turning your back on either your military friends or on God Himself. There may be something else that God wants you to do that involves neither military nor missionary work.
Your answers will come in prayer. Pray incessantly and have faith.

hi bigredd, 90 days..hmm....still got some time to do some soul searching there i think. My advice for you would be to find out what happens if you go into missionary training sch (if u haven't) and see how your future would be like and check whether u'd like that. Do the same for the army. Make a good guess on which one would give more glory to God for the expansion of His kingdom.
