  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Help me please :)

I have sucessfully set up a website i'm satisfied with in terms of design and content, but the search engines don't catch it because it doesn't include Meta tags and is not in html format. I chose the site i built it with for it's tasteful layout, the fact it's free, it's numerous possibilities and decent upload capacity but it just doesn't get picked up by search engines. I really prefer the design to all the different other free tools so i'd rather not change; moreover i've spent quite a lot of time on it. I've attempted to include html codes in it and it doesn't work. Can someone please help? I'll pm you the address.
I didn't even think of using html when I was building the site since it was possible to make it attractive simply by using the text boxes and fonts provided. Was it a big mistake?

I have little computer knowledge and work out things by myself in general - but there are a couple of things I'm stuck on apart from the html codes.
When you post a link, how do you change the name? Say you post a link to www.christianforums.com how do you get it to appear as "cool christian forum" or as an icon?

Not really. If you want a simple site then a generator is probably the best choice; however, if you want full control then you need to know some coding.

links are created with anchor tags that look like this:

<a href="http://www.christianforums.com">PUT YOUR TEXT HERE</a>

change 'PUT YOUR TEXT HERE' to whatever you want the text to be. If you want an image or something you can add an img tag:

<a href="http://www.christianforums.com"><img src="image.jpg" border="0" width="x" height="y"></a>

Thanks a lot - i'll try however when i insert tags like that they appear in the web page just like that and don't work. Is there something i'm not doing?
ETA: tried it and didn't work.
Ok so i'm supposed to go to the web page editor, and just insert this at the place where I want it? Because in that case the generator i'm using is certainly not recognising it as a tag, just as normal text.
This is so frustrating. What am i doing wrong?

If you're looking at an editor in design mode and typing this in, then it will show up 'as is'. You need to go DIRECTLY to the code and type in the code I gave you, or else it won't work.
