Ok well I'm a computer builder but this is beyond me I can't fiqure this out.

Saturday I was working on my motherboard and upgraded the processor and set the right jumpers for the speed of my processor. It turned on and ran for an hour then it shut completely down. I went to reboot but nothing worked only my fans seemed to work. I replaced the processor with my old one and it still didn't boot completely but this time my components such as cdroms and HDD's worked but nothing came up on the screen and my jumpers were set back to the old processors speed.

Well I got a motherboard from a friend which worked for him. I put in my case and hooked everything up even the power switch cables. So after I hook everything up I go to turn it on but nothing happens it didn't turn on. So I didn't want to mess with it anymore so I left it pluged in and in the morning I got ready for church and left for church. I got home my computer was on. I got completely lost becuase It was on and I went to turn it off but the power button wasn't going to turn it off. So I unpluged it. This morning it was on again by itself. I'm very confused I can't fiqure it out.

What the hec Is the Problem?

Try resetting your BIOS. Change all your CPU settings within the BIOS rather than physically jumpering them. Motherboard shouldn't need physical jumpers. Give that a go. :)
I'll add to this one. Also check your motherboard documentation (manual) to make sure you have your BIOS settings right for this CPU.
One thing I had to do recently when I upgraded my CPU was get a BIOS update from the motherboard manufacturer's website. THEN I had to monkey around with the settings but never could get the right speed of the CPU to show up on the POST screen. I finally found (by luck) a chart on that website that showed some setting I had missed. I set the BIOS again and everything's been fine since then.

What're the specs of the CPU and motherboard? That would help a lot to know.

Well I actually didn't have to do anything. I talked to my friends dad again and he said he never used the motherboard. It worked for his friend that owned a business and ran it as a server and the BIOS has a LAN setting that lets it boot up by itself as a server so this motherboard is actually a server board. So While I was at school I came home it was on by itself again and this time I decided that i would push the reset button instead of unplugging it and it showed the memory scan proccesor type etc. and went to load my operating system which was Windows XP Pro. However I had another Problem it didn'te want to load Windows XP Pro becuase of so many hardware changes so I borrowed Windows 98 from my friends Dad and his Windows XP Home Edition upgrade and some other software and know my computer is running smoothly even faster. I was running a intel celeron before and it sucked and now i'm running a pentium II with this new motherboard. It may seem like that a Celeron would Be faster but it isn't becuase Celeron's don't contain L1 and L2 cache like a pentium II so and Pentium II would be faster and better and I'm enjoying everyday of it.

I'd take a P2 over a celeron any day. My goodness are celerons terrible. Though, I love my Athlon 64 and the only thing I'd be willing to trade that for is an Athlon FX64. Now that would be sweet.

I hear ya. I would do anything that hace a motherboard that ran an athlon. AMD is way better than Intel
