Help me finding an advanced synonym dictionary!

What I'm asking for, is a dictionary that would be far more advanced than the usual synonym dictionary. I want the dictionary to say what synonyms have what kind of connototations, f.e.: stronger meaning - weaker meaning, broader meaning - more narrow meaning. Beacause I don't know the exact meaning of so many words. Usually synonym dictionaries only give synonyms without any explanation of meaning. The dictionary doesn't have to give actual explanations to words, just synonyms to different directions and notes what those directions are. I'm not sure if I've made myself clear, but I can't explain this better. I just find usual synonym dictionaries not helpful

...I don't know if something like this exists. I think you'd need to use a thesurus in combination with an excellent dictionary.

seems to be something like what I'm looking for, but purhaps one with more words
