  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Help!! Important!!!

If this older guy has any shred of integrity, he'll introduce himself properly to your friend's mom. IF it's even legal for a 20yo to date a 16yo...

Dating is complex... but knowing there is such a dramatic age difference, you'd think the older guy would want to set the 16yo's parents at ease... Unless he is just going to use the younger guy... or worse.

I offered to go with him but this person was already there and my friend just said there was no point...

I'd be leery of going with him. You don't know this guy, and if it turns out he isn't who he says he is, you could be putting yourself at risk as well.

If they were going to meet up, they should've taken separate cars, told others where they would be and when they expected to be coming back, and met in a public place. I wouldn't advocate your getting in this guy's car under any circumstances.

In the UK, the age of consent is 16.
Where I live, way back in the day, heterosexuals passed a lot of strange age of consent laws.

Here, it would be 14.

Still, I'd rather see the guy be safe than sorry.

They're not even dating...it's just a "so you want to meet" thing.

My friend already has a boyfriend. Which is a whole different matter altogether which i dont agree with.

Tell him you're going to call his boyfriend. That should get his attention.

Ask for this guy's phone number and his vehicle license plate.

I totally dont know which forum to put this in and at the mometn i dont care. I just need someone to answer it.

My friend rang me up to say hes going to get in a car with this stranger. He said hes being talking to this 20 year old gay guy over msn for about a month. He also said this guy was coming over to pick him up in his car and he didnt know where he was going.

My frined is also gay and only 16. I know they both like each other but they have never met in person.

My friend told me he has taken a pocket knive and his phone.

I dont know what to do. I dont want to get him into trouble but i might have to phone his mum. I really dont want him to get hurt and i need to know hes okay. Im just sat here unable to do anything. And anything i do do, i dont know if its right.

Please help.
Call his mother if you haven't done so already. You are being a good friend by saying something to his mother. If you don't say anything and somethign happens, you aren't going to feel like a good friend.

Thankyou. I think i'll probably be such a nag when he rings me when he gets in. I'm glad he's okay.

Thankyou all for your advice.

I came to the discussion late, but I agree with most of the advice given here.

You are indeed a good friend, and he's blessed to have you in his life.

After you are done kicking his butt, give him a hug and say: "Next time you want to meet somebody from the internet, meet them at the pub or starbucks!"
