  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I took two rolls at Christmas on my Olympus film SLR. When they came back from being developed one was fine but the other came back blank. I assumed I had accidentally exposed that film in some way and put it down to personal error (I only took up photography 'properly' last summer). The next two films came back fine so I thought that this was the case. But I have just got back from town where I was NOT a happy bunny to be informed that the roll I took over Easter for my riding school's website (photos they paid me to take for them) was blank.

What would cause a film to come back blank?? I was sure my camera was working properly, it felt and sounded normal when I wound the film on after each shot, and the shutter was working fine. It also had a brand new battery quite recently. Is there anything that could be wrong with my camera that is causing this, or is it most likely that I accidentally exposed these films? I can't recall doing anything that would have done that, but maybe I did.

Oh my goodness, that's aweful! I don't know much about Film, but did you accidently have the wrong settings at all? Maybe too hi/low of a shutter speed and everything was just too under/over exposed?

Sorry about that.... hopefully you can find the culprit soon! :)

What lab are you using? I've seen lab operators unintentionally expose undeveloped film to light before processing them.

What model camera are you using? Are you sure the film was on the uptake spool? Is your uptake spool worn?

Did you do something unusual like hand them a roll of unexposed film by mistake and the exposed roll is still in your bag?

Honestly, if you felt the film tension as you were winding, my bet is on user error at the lab.

Have you thought about going digital? At least you see what you get as you are shooting.
