The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. exactly Mr. Cheese! praise her and encourage her to do what she loves. love on her as i see you're doing. you're doing a great job! i know this is hard for you, but she will get thru this. the Lord is near and hears your prayers. sometimes we get so overwhelmed we forget the simple truths that God loves us and cares for us deeply. i'd give you a big hug if i could but i guess this will have to do:

I'm impressed that a parent has come on here to ask for help ... good for you, Dawn.
I'm a self-injurer, and my parents know about it, but they just want to make me stop, and don't want to understand what's behind it. I don't want to stop yet, and it's true that you can only stop when you want to, which sounds like where your daughter is - which is good. Try not to be TOO intrusive if she tells you that she minds - if she doesn't mind you watching her, etc., that's fine, but in some cases, like other people have said, it could trigger more severe cutting instead of decreasing it.
