I use an ad-blocker and it really minimizes the ads on all sites.

Interesting. I've never had an issue with ads (like this) until entering this site. What blocker do you use?

Thanks! :)

Some of our members are bad but there's a reason I stuck on CF and my wife hasn't. She got all of the trolls and bad people and I just stuck them all on my ignore list lol.

Ha! I'm definitely not shy to put people on Ignore, if anything, to avoid unnecessary drama. At any rate, it would be nice to find a "forum home" that I can stick with for many years. :)

CF can be that home, I love posting here. I really wish I could convince my wife to come back. Most of the members that used to harass her are gone now. But I have a difficult enough time trying to get her to regularly watch sermons on YouTube or read the Bible with me every once in a while. I've been a Christian for almost 10 years now and I still haven't read the Bible from beginning to end.

Makes sense. If your wife isn't deeply interested, it would be pretty difficult to get her to come back if there's any kind of abuse or harassment.

As for your final statement of never reading the entire Bible all the way through . . . yeah, that was me, too! I didn't read the entire Bible all the way through until about age 50 or 51. Since then I've had the time to read it about three times through now. Oh, do I have a treat for you!

That link will take you to a reading plan that will have you read the entire Bible in a year, but in a timeline, chronological format. In other words, as you read the Story of God, it will make much more sense. For some reason, our pastors and preachers don't inform us that we can know the Bible in a logical sense.

My dads favorite book was Tom Sawyer. He was fascinated by it. But what if he read the book beginning with chapter 17, then moved to chapter 12, then chapter 21, then chapter 1, then the final chapter? Why would anyone read a book in that manner? Who does that? No one, but when it comes to the Bible, we are not taught to understand the actual Story of God. And what is that Story of God? It is also called the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

If you decide to read the Bible in that format, you can even double it up and be done within 6 months! Or, even faster if you find that you cannot put the Bible down. And when you read the Bible in this way, you will find that it is the single most unbelievable story ever written. It is exciting; it is often extremely sad, particularly when our favorite "characters" die. But it is my advice to all that they come to know the Bible in its True storyline format.

I hope that you will decide to print out that list and start the reading plan today. I promise you that you will not regret it!

David :)

I felt led to check your other posts because I was curious what you meant by chronological order on my thread.
Thank you for sharing the pdf

I'll see if I can talk my wife into that plan I don't really enjoy reading the Bible alone that much. We got halfway through a Youversion plan a few years back but never finished the plan. But, I'm mostly bored with my days (My life isn't that super exciting) so trying to talk my wife into a Bible plan is good.

That would be awesome if she could join you. This is the single most important "read" of your life. :)

I have been a "christian" my entire life but hadn't really a clue as to what was in the Old Testament. Sure, I knew some of the basics, but ultimately, I didn't think that reading the OT had anything to do with me. What [seemed] to matter to me was that I know Jesus in the New Testament. The problem is that knowing the Full Jesus means we should get to know God's Mysterious Plan.

Ephesians 3:9 NLT - "I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning."

Colossians 2:2 NLT - "I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God's mysterious plan, which is Christ himself."

Ephesians 6:19 NLT - "And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God's mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike."

As I thought about verse 19 above, it seems evident that this Plan is not an easy thing to discuss. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not an easy story to tell. The fact that Philip entered into the eunuch's chariot indicates that Philip needed to say more than, "The Gospel is the Good News of Jesus Christ!!"

Indeed, I've read the important parts of the OT like I've read what the prophets have to say, Moses's writings, and stuff like that. I'm pretty big on Prophecy and theology so I immerse myself in stuff like that. But like you a majority of the OT is unread. I've read the NT probably at least 15 times though. I love the New Testament.

Actually, one of the first things that I did after my incredible and Powerful Spiritual experience was to read all of Paul's writings in a timeline, chronological order. And though I thought I understood his teachings well, it turned out that I didn't. After reading Paul's writings in this way, the Lord then placed into my mind how important it is that I read the entire Bible in the timeline, chronological order. What I gained from that process was life-changing.

For example Galatians. That letter is incredible, but after understanding the core context of the Bible, Galatians took on an entirely new meaning. I was so completely lost when it came to Galatians . . . it was shocking. Keep in mind that prior to my Powerful Spiritual experience, I believed that I was something like a "master" of certain doctrines, such as Eternal Security. While I still believe that True Believers are Eternally Secure to this day, I was missing so much of the Gospel that I can honestly say that I didn't know what I was talking about (with others). But my oh my . . . I fooled a lot of people . . . especially women whom I wanted to "date."

Thank you, J Mick!

My Indwelling, that incredible moment of Purification, that unbelievable moment of receiving the Spiritual Circumcision of Christ . . . I will never forget it. So, as time goes on, here . . . I am certain that the details will come forth more and more. And you're right, our Lord is Wonderful beyond imagination! :)

There are still parts of the New testament that I'm figuring out too. A lot of what Peter and John said doesn't make sense to me. I don't really grasp things as a reader I've always had learning disabilities.

At least the book of Revelation and the basics of theology and salvation are always clear.

The more I came to understand the Bible as a whole, the more I realized that if a person would process all of Scripture through the three passage sets below, individual teachings become much more clear. They are:

Ephesians 3:1-13 NLT - "When I think of all this, I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus for the benefit of you Gentiles . . . 2 assuming, by the way, that you know God gave me the special responsibility of extending his grace to you Gentiles. 3 As I briefly wrote earlier, God himself revealed his mysterious plan to me. 4 As you read what I have written, you will understand my insight into this plan regarding Christ. 5 God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets. 6 And this is God's plan: Both Gentiles and Jews who believe the Good News share equally in the riches inherited by God's children. Both are part of the same body, and both enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus. 7 By God's grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading this Good News. 8 Though I am the least deserving of all God's people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available to them in Christ. 9 I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning. 10 God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord. 12 Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God's presence. 13 So please don't lose heart because of my trials here. I am suffering for you, so you should feel honored."

Then:

Ephesians 2:10-18 NLT - "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. 11 Don't forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called "uncircumcised heathens" by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts. 12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. 13 But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. 14 For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. 15 He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. 16 Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. 17 He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. 18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us."

And last:

Colossians 2:9-15 NLT - "For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. 10 So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. 11 When you came to Christ, you were "circumcised," but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision--the cutting away of your sinful nature. 12 For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. 13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. 14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. 15 In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross."

Again, if a person would recognize these passages before each daily reading of their Bible (reading in a timeline, chronological order), the Bible will begin to make remarkable sense, even from the first day's reading which includes Genesis 3:22-24:

Genesis 3:22-24 NLT - "Then the LORD God said, "Look, the human beings have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!" 23 So the LORD God banished them from the Garden of Eden, and he sent Adam out to cultivate the ground from which he had been made. 24 After sending them out, the LORD God stationed mighty cherubim to the east of the Garden of Eden. And he placed a flaming sword that flashed back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life."

Holy Moses! Our Bible is just unbelievable!

You're completely right. People should take scripture for what it says and not cherry pick the verses thag they like.
