• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been reading through some of the threads and I decided to post one of my own, for I can relate to so many.
I was a caregiver for 3 of my grandparents and an elderly school teacher who had retired from the University in the next town over from me.
I know that there are times that it seems so mind-boggling, tiresome, and even frustrating. But, now that all that I took care of are gone, I see the joy that I have found in knowing that I could provide them the love and support of being beside them.
A lot of people don't have anyone and it breaks my heart to know that they have no one there to love and support them in their final days/months/years.
I applaud all of you who are taking care of your loved ones and giving them what they need, despite the emotional and physical strain it puts on you. Be it a child or an elder, they all need love!
God Bless!
:hug:'s and :angel::kiss:es!!

I wish I had found this forum earlier while I was a caretaker for my Mother.

I spent almost 2 years with her and most of the time I was on my on. I know how lonely it gets and I even felt bad at myself at times for getting down but it is truly a lot of stress at times.

I thank God for making it possible to spend that time with her. I was able to return a little of the love that she had shown me for the past 53 years.:)

I remember so many days watching my loved ones as they seemed to have went back into their childhoods, only in a bigger form.
Changing them, feeding them, singing to them. I found myself wondering what life would be like if I were to live to be their age. I have no children, and I often wondered: Who would take care of me? Would they treat me well? Would they feed me when I needed? All kinds of questions.
Well, I don't know the answer to any of those questions, but I do know that I feel good knowing they my loved-ones were well taken care of. :)

I was a caretaker fo my Mother for almost 2 years and thanks to God I will have those memories for the rest of my life.

I can still hear her say "Tom, I don't know what I would do without you."

It was only a small price to pay for all that she did for me. I miss her everyday.

My prayers go out for all those caring for friends and loved ones.

:amen: Although my family history hasnt been Christian, and I am, when I reach heaven, those I cared for as a certified nurses aide and homehealth aide will be there to greet me, even if family isnt. It will make my heaven much sweeter...
Recently watching Dr.James Kennedy, I saw a story about a new book (90 Minutes in Heaven) about a man in a 18wheeler/car crash, and how the man went to Heaven for 90 minutes, (he was pronounced dead, and didnt bleed to death, because he had no pulse). He saw alot of family. I thought, uh oh. I dont know if I will see any family in Heaven, because we dont have a Christian background...then ..I thought, wait, those Chrisitan old folks I took care of ..I will greet them! Yes, Heaven will be sweeter for all eternity, because I cared for those lovely old people in their time of need. :groupray:God is good, all the time. (PS- It was very tough work, but it will pay off in the long long run..:) ):crossrc:
