  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone, I'm Sarah and I'm a seeker/very new Christian...don't want to be too cocky yet, I've barely begun :) I was an atheist for 8 years before this and non-religious (or briefly Wiccan) before that, so this is all very new to me. Still seeking out what I want to do, what denomination to belong to, etc. Hope I can learn something from y'all. :)

Hello Sarah and a warm welcome!
I think this is a good place to get to know about the basics of christianity (in the section called exploring christianity and with more precise questions in new christians). :) Anyways, I think that you should definately also explore congregations in your area and see what they have to offer. I'm sure you'll find your way!
Have a good time here and may God bless you!

Just some advice. Read the New Testament and enjoy it! Seek Bible studies that really so seek out God, not personal agendas or those of others. Speak up in such studies, but always seek God's will, try to be inspired by Him and His purposes. Follow the teachings of Christ and make this paramount in your life. Spread the Gospel by being a part of it, living your life the way of Christ, obey him. Loving God and your neighbor opens up beautiful doors to God's will & wisdom and a wonderful peace within you. My thoughts are mine with my relationship with my Father, yet they are my inspiration from that relationship. I try to direct people, not to a denomination, but to a personal relationship and the greater spiritual church within us all. I go to different churches for fellowship and here, but this doesn't trump my personal relationship with God, my Father through Christ. Have faith in Jesus and following him. Don't seek faith through man or churches, but develop a commitment and faith through Jesus Christ alone. It is wonderful to have fellowship with others, yet we must obey Christ and have faith in him alone.

Welcome to Christianity. May you always remember Jesus' teachings. That is what it is all about. My advice about church doctrines from denominations or Christendom's major beliefs is to have a personal belief and relationship through Jesus Christ alone with our Father in Heaven. Let the confusion of denominations be judged by God at the proper time, but "you have faith in Christ Jesus alone, in not a religion, but in a relationship with your Father in Heaven". Have a good day.

PS Obeying Christ through his teachings, personally, is the way to gain knowledge and the instructions of the Holy Spirit, besides great peace and the joy of God. This is faith!

Hello and welcome. I, too, had a very convoluted path to my Christian walk. I didn't go wiccan, but it really doesn't matter, where I went was still wrong. :( However, don't lose faith, God will pick you up and show you the best way to go. Sometimes we have to get lost to be found. Strange, but true. May God bless you always.
