Hello, my name is David. I'm 27 years old and I'm currently studying philosophy and computer science in college.
I had somewhat of a late start, I guess. I was homeless as a teenager, then got incarcerated, read some Nietzsche, ended up playing guitar in various jazz bands in the Southwest, then I went to rehab. Typical Nietzschean. After all of that I worked at a bank for a while. I ended up converting to Mormonism at some point, got engaged, etc. then it fell apart. Which must've done something to me because I de-converted and since 2020 have been working as a comedian and an actor.
I've been pretty interested in theology and philosophy since my stint in juvenile detention. I didn't have much to do except read and workout. I used that to my advantage and became familiar with the work of a lot of well-known Christian intellectuals. My time on the road also gives me a lot of time to read.
I decided that if I wanted to be intellectually honest, a trait that I think is important beyond measure, I ought to seriously give Christianity a thorough examination. I'm familiar with the Bible as I also had a philosophy podcast where I'd discuss the Bible and other books with believers and non-believers alike.
I was never really convinced by Traditional Christian apologetics, though I did find Presuppositional Apologetics to be particularly disturbing in a unique way. It's probably worth mentioning that I don't really care to debate or argue with anyone about anything, certainly not religion. It's just that the older I get the more I find myself being called to a traditional lifestyle, though my work may limit the extent to which I am capable of adhering to my own standards.
I'm interested in learning and making new friends. Hope this finds you all well.
