• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

YES!! I am aware that I spelled spiteful incorrectly. As my username and profile states, I am an atheist. Perhaps not the most ardent out there but an atheist nonetheless. I do not know what else to say. Read my profile for more information. Feel free to try and convert me. I would love to discuss evolution with you. I think this will be an interesting experience for all of us. Feel free to make your opening shots at me and I will be more than happy to reply to you. I know this is all over the board but hey, most christians are, I'll fit in just fine here.

To the administration, I will try my best to abide by the forum rules.

TheSpitfulAtheist,

I am new today also. Welcome!

I am not the one to convert you, just to welcome you. I was in the same boat as you not long ago. But I did see the light and my whole life has changed. Maybe the reason you chose to join a Christian forum.....is what?

Someone better at debating these issues will come along I am sure.

I'm sure there will be some who try to convert you, but I don't view that as being very christian at all. I'd rather take you as you are and share beliefs, not shove them down your throat. That's what my folks did to me. They pretty much said, "This is what you're gonna believe, and you're gonna like it, so shut up and open your Bible!" I was prepared to burn on the Lake of Fire. Only later did I find Christ on my own, and I knew that there was only one way to speak to others about him: INVITE people to believe, don't FORCE them.

All in all, welcome!

In christ,
Oleg:)

Oh, and while I'm at it...

Hi! I'm a newbie, too! I was totally stoked when I discovered this site, and I'm stoked to get to know all of you! I'll probably have to go in a few minutes because my mom needs the computer, but I may be on later, and I'll definitely be one tomorrow.

Blessings,
Oleg

Geed evening TSA!

I'm not here to convert you or to debate with you. I just want to say welcome to CF!:)

Come check out the relaxation forums. The Friendship Court and the Rec Room are fun boards for playing games and getting to know your fellow CF posters. I haven't really been into the debate sections, but I'm sure you'll find some lively discussions there.

Enjoy your time at CF! Hope to chat with ya.

TheSpitfulAtheist,

What changed my mind was of all things, my mother in-law. She harped and grinded on me for years. My husband had strayed too. He was set against the Christian life as he grew up that way and it was too much for him.

But, my mother in law had to have both her legs removed last year. She was a very active musician in our community. Now she could not play her instruments or go anywhere. Wouldn't you think she would be mad or at least depressed? Nope! Not my mother in-law. I would have just wanted to die. Not her.

She has very strong faith. It has brought her through this and her whole family too. She has only cried once and that was for her husband (he thought she would die when she had the first operation). She is an inspiration to me. I started looking around at others, and saw that the happy people who love their lives.....have faith.

So I started reading books by Billy Graham & Norman Vincent Peale and finally, The Bible, aloud to my husband at night. He has had some VERY bad things happen to him in the last 5 years, so he was mad at God. Now, we both go to church and he plays his guitar and sings at church and writes beautiful music (funny his music cd didn't sell very well before, but now he is in demand!).

Our life is totally changed! I can't explain it except to say that I am following what Jesus says in The Bible. And we aren't any richer, but we are so much more content and happy with our lives now.

Hello! Welcome!

I am sorry that your experiences with church helped form an unfavorable opinion of Christianity. Hopefully, you will have a better experience with Christians on this site.

Once again... Welcome! :)

Hello and welcome to CF, just to note, I was an ardent athiest before I became a Christian, 3 things that kept me from learning about what it was all about was
1) people being too pushy with their beleifs and forcing it upon me wherever possible.
2) I had a false image of what it was about.
3) I thought I was right and everyone else was wrong, I thought I had all the answers to life.

What changed? me, although I didnt make the change myself, I just had a strong desire to learn what it was all about before I could 100% dismiss it, however the reverse happened.

It is different for every person, if you are happy with what you beleive and it gives you substance, purpose and meaning then who am I to tell you what to do and beleive, what good will that do, to me we all reach a point in life where we desire to know more, learn more, and seek for answers beyond what we can see, its in our very nature to question life.

If you have questions regarding why I beleive what I believe then you are more than welcome to ask, if you want to discuss your viewpoint there is many non-Christian places on this site for evolution etc, we have had many discussions regarding this and I am very aware of evolution theory and big bang theory however my beleif gives me more substance.

Hope you enjoy your stay here and just wanna say, please try and keep your discussions fair and with dignity and respect for others, I can see by what you write that you seem to have some anger associated with Christianity, and from your biog you seem to think all Chrstians are foolish, but just keep in mind, what makes a greater fool? him who beleives the surface negativity against Christianity, or him who seeks for himself to find the answers and concludes to be for or against?

Peace,
Mark777
