• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hello. I'm new here. My name is Amanda and I'll be 19 in September. I found your forum though a Dogpile search for Self-Injury support sites.I have been a self injurer for a little over 4 years now, I hope that I'll be able to get over it, but I know in my heart at this time I'm not ready to do so.

I thought it great that you have support forums centered around Faith, and I guess you could say that was my deciding factor to join!

For the past couple of years I've been doing a lot of searching for God. When I was in highschool, my sophmore year I started learning about the occult and wicca. At the end of my junior year, I was initiated as a student in a wiccan coven. I thought i was content with my faith until at the end of my senior year one of my best friends invited me to church. I had found the sermon both inspirational and enjoyable. I have denounced my wiccan faith to find the path of Christ. I'll be doing the RCIA program this fall at my University's on campus Catholic Church. I'm looking forward to learning more things both from the RCIA and from these forums. :)

Hi and welcome. It's good to have you here.

I'm glad to hear that you are working on quitting. I know what you mean about not being quite ready. I think if you aren't actually ready to quit something, you can't really do it. It takes all of your desire to actually come through a thing like that, addiction or not. And remember, even if you relapse when you decide to quit, it's not the end of the world. Slip ups happen, it's like a baby learning how to walk and falling down from time to time. Rare are the children who walk and never fall and the same is for Si'ers. God bless!

Welcome to the Forums, I echo what the TheMainException said. I think its awesome that you want to quit SI but also whne you do it, you need to want to do it with all of your desire, and even then it is hard, but like it was before when you do try to
quit if you fall it is normal, it is part of the journey.

I hope you find some support here, and that you can learn more about your faith.
