I understand the need for punishment for the unrepentant, but why is it so many believe these visions when there is so much torture in them? Seriously, does God TORTURE?

I've heard of parents burning their kids with cigarettes as a form of punishment. Its enough to make me puke in my throat. But a God of love who would choose torture as a form of punishment?

Someone got it right earlier. The lake of fire was not made for man. Forget all this nonsense that tells us Satan and his minions are going to have some form of rank where they get pleasure from torturing the fallen. Isn't there a verse that says something about Satan knowing his day is coming and not liking the idea of it? These visions of satanic torture make hell sound like the devils heaven.

I have not read the books, so I cannot judge Ms. Baxter's teachings - I can only recount this memory..... Years ago I heard Baxter speak at a ladies' conference. One night she spoke about Hell. As I look back on it, it was rather Dante-an, but it's been a long time.... The next night she was going to speak about Heaven, but when she approached the platform she could not speak, the presence of God was so strong. I remember I was sitting on the floor against the wall, and I felt the weight of God's presence on me like a thick blanket. It was difficult to stay sitting up, and after a while I gave up and lay down. Others were going down to the floor too, some prostrating themselves in God's presence. At some point someone started to play the piano, and during that time was the first time I remember seeing visions. It was incredible.

Wow!!!!! My wife is from Ecuador and has told me quite a bit about powerful meetings like this.

I also read a book recently about some amazing things that occurred at an orphanage in China after 1919. A conviction of sin is often at the beginning of revival..... both personal... and for groups!

I was thinking about this before coming back to this thread. I suppose the only biblical explanation is that Hell is where Satan is king for a brief moment of time. Many people who recount these vivid experiences forget about the scriptural truth that Hell will be thrown into the great lake of fire. So whatever Baxter says in her many books people don't go to Hell for eternity to be tortured. God actually sends them to the great lake of fire prepared for the Devil and his Demons.
