• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hell doesn't exist and there is no eternal suffering, instead bad peolle just cease to exist

I take this to mean you don't believe in a literal Hell? Are you saying it's a scare tactic invented by church leaders to maintain order?
I believe it is a spritual state of separation from God, the people who are in it do not want to be anywhere near Him. He will not drag people to Him if they do not want to be there, that would be rude, and God is not rude.

Jesus is looking for those who sincerely desire to know Him, not trying to control anyone with fear. He came to earth in order to show us how much He loves us, not to scare people into control.

I already believe in the Lord. However, even the demons believe and shudder, so that's not much consolation to me.

There is definitely a difference between so-called "saving faith" and mere knowledge. The former produces real transformation, which I have not experienced.
It can be slow, and steady. It is not always a sudden revolution.

If God wants me to go to hell I will do it, I pray for His will to be done

He does not.

I know. Sanctification is a lifelong process, and there are ups/downs. I think there should be an upward trend over the years, though.

Described as what?
There are plenty of descriptions in the Bible of what it looks like to live in the spirit rather than the flesh.

But if you're wanting it in my words... I guess it seems to me that there are two main changes:
1) A heart change - You grow in your love for God and others.
2) A life change - You turn from living for self to living for God.

(Of course, the two changes are not easily separated. The second change flows from the first.)

Yes. Whatever your struggles with faith are, Jesus does understand them, with impeccable accuracy. You can just start with telling Him everything, ask Him about anything, your time is better spent praying than worrying.

I hope you live to have confidence in His love for you.

See 2 Thessalonians 2:13 & read 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17. Also 1 Corinthians 13:12-13.

Agreed
Scripture says no more selfishness, loving all as self and forgiving those who wrong you. Not really a stretch, unless self-interest is your god.

Well if that video works for some people, great. I do agree about two kingdoms, the Holy Spirit must make contact with us, then we are in.

Not quite. We represent.
Okay, I merely meant we end up in the Kingdom of Grace, and can see the spiritual warfrare part.

I am not sure that I understand "represent".

Yes, He is looking for us to love Him, so we can love others as He loves us. Present tense, because He is alive.

No one is saved by being terrified of hell, but by being keen to know Him. I do believe there is a hell, but it is not there to frighten people.

I suggest putting the Father and His agenda first.

If you mean that as a way to get to know Him and His love, I am inclined to agree, that is a good way to find out.

No, I mean His agenda existed before our universe was even created, and it is ongoing... His battle against adversity in first the elohim and then us later. It is still ongoing. "His will be done in earth as it is in heaven". Why should we cut in line and think it is all about us instead?
