It's not my duty to give all others I have ran ever across.

I only gave one quote from one individual, solely, because they used themselves as an example.

If you want to call me a liar and say no more than that one Christian has ever made such comments, feel free to do so.

However, I'd wager several Christians would disagree with that...

You asked if every christian relished in the sadistic taunt of holding Hell over you. I simply pointed out the if you only can make mention of one quote or if only one quote comes to mind then it should be apparent that not "every Christian" does.

I would also like to point out that just because one is a christian that does not mean they can not relish in the Hell taunt either. I would say that those who do, Do. and those who do not, don't. (That would mean not every christian does)

My comment does not have anything to do with your character, just your general observation skills.

*sigh*

My point was was; regardless of my experiences, do some or most think along those lines? Is it a majority or a minority, or somewhere in between?

If you said several atheist you had encountered thought that Jesus was a made up person and only gave on example of a person, then asked do some or most atheist believe that, I wouldn't mention that you that you only gave one example of an atheist.

It's irrelevant. I would simply address your address, as is.

Any examples given are meaningless to the response of the general question.

You have over looked the answer to your stated question for the opportunity to soap box.

My turn:

As the post you have elected to dismiss points out, It is a personal preference. Why ask for us to speak in stereotypes about our brothers in Christ? What is wrong with getting to know an individual? Why do you have a need to compartmentalize individuals of faith?

Quick! when I say chicken and water melons what do you think of?

Or if I said Rice and dog, does it bring anything specific to mind?

If your answer is indeed a no, then why are you looking to lay a foundation of Compartmentalization of an individual with Christianity?

generally speaking?

I immediately thought, because I can't hear you, "Why did he put a space in 'watermelons', I think of chicken and watermelons, I thought of an image of a over-sized piece of rice holding a harness, with a dog attached to it."

If your answer is indeed a no, then why are you looking to lay a foundation of Compartmentalization of an individual with Christianity?

generally speaking?

I'm not asking you to stereotype anybody. You are the one wanting labels for everybody.

I don't get why you can't answer the question...

I have found it is a tiny minority, even in Churches that preach fire and brimstone. Everlasting torment is really not something to take lightly.

Then why are you insisting that "we" speak to the generalities of Christianity rather than looking to those who use such taunts as being an individual response, who happen to be Christian??

I don't get why you can't answer the question.
As with all the questions/challenges you do not seem to be able to get answered. Perhaps the answer given is not the yes or no you are looking for. Maybe you should look to broaden or at least examine an answer outside of your current scope before you move to quickly dismiss it.

My efforts or "answers" tend to address the thought processes that lead to the misinformed question. So rather than perpetuating a needless cycle of questioning, I move to address the heart of the matter. I seems that either you can not or will not examine your own thought processes as being the reason for the inconsistencies that bring about the questions in the first place. This is why you can not see the answers provided. You ask a yes or no question, but will not consider the answer lies in anything beyond the two responses you have considered.

Do you not see this as an extremely narrow way to think?

It seems every Christian, but you, has seemed to respond about what they know and/or have experienced. I mean, it's a pretty simple question.

If you weren't married, I'd think you would do wonders, with the women's libbers, at the local colleges with your psychobabble and an acoustic guitar...

Several times, I end up seeing comments along the lines of, "Ha. You'll be burning in hell."

Do some (or most) of Christians typically get this, seemingly, sadistic enjoyment?

Some, yes. And sadly there's been a lot of Christians like this going back to antiquity, in one of the writings of Tertullian (early 3rd century) he speaks of getting unimaginable glee from watching the persecutors of Christians burning in agony.

I don't think most would be accurate, I would like to think that most of us Christians have at least a modicum of decency in regard to their fellow human beings.

Why do you suppose those who do that, do so?

Vindication? Affirmation? Misinterpreting?

NS, have you seen what the Bible says about this? Do you recognize it's contents as directly what a Christian is to ... "incline their heart" towards?

It suggests you take delight in that?
