What does the Bible say?
Let's bottom-line this.
Do you believe the earth moves in space? if so, is it okay with you if I do also?
Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.
Your turn.
As Loudmouth indicated the Bible says otherwise, and quite clearly too.
So the world does not move according to the Bible, correct?
I'll cut Loudmouth & CabVet some slack for not taking into account the fact that the book of Psalms is known as Hebrew poetry.
Would you like me to do the same with you?

Would you like me to do the same with you?
1 Chronicles 16:30
tremble before him, all earth; yea, the world stands firm, never to be moved.
But that is not what you asked, is it? Does the Bible say the earth cannot be moved? Yes or no?
This whole conversation reminds me of Romeo and Juliet.
"It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief,"
Now, will someone please tell me why Romeo thinks Juliet is a giant hydrogen fuelled fusion reactor?![]()
This came up in the thread about solar theory, but I figured I'd bring it up here because I don't know how many people are reading it five pages in. Does anyone else here reject the idea that the Earth orbits the sun? The Bible is pretty clear that the Earth is fixed and immobile, and it's the sun that moves, and I'm surprised how many Christians are willing to reject the Bible for science.
It's not that we're rejecting the Bible for science, but rather that we understand the Bible differently than you do. Afaic, there's no conflict between the Bible and the truth. This came up in the thread about solar theory, but I figured I'd bring it up here because I don't know how many people are reading it five pages in. Everything. Evolution is rejected by creationists because the evidence is not as clear as that for a spherical earth or an earth orbiting the sun. If it was, Genesis would just be considered a metaphor, just like the passages that say that the earth is flat and stationary are.
