  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Even the concept of believed collectively... is in dispute.. God could get the rocks of earth to speak better and clearer truths if necessary.. His message when upgraded by a prophet.. is at first rejected by the many and accepted by few.. that includes with God came in the flesh and spoke it.

Good point. Yet, we now accept the writings of those prophets, yet we did not accept them on the witness of one person, but of the witness of God's people who heard the voice of the Spirit in the prophet's words. Even when those men were rejected at first, eventually they are accepted by God's people.

To get deeper into the concept for my relatives book for a moment...
He suggests that when Jesus said of the Pharisees to do as they say, not as they do, what He was primarily pointing out was the failure of the Pharisees to teach in the Hebraic way, having abandoned it for the Greco-Roman way.

I don't think he could prove that. It's quite a stretch.

I have to disagree as I think it's clear He was pointing to their hypocrisy, no a particular learning or teaching style. Any thoughts?

That sounds pretty much right.

To David Ben Yona
Yeshua said: My Kingdom is not that of this world. (Yochanan 18:36)
How would you interprete this with a Hebrew mindset?

I don't think DBY believes in a such thing as a Hebrew mindset, and I also believe he is not able to be here for a while.

You might have to wait for an answer.

(Personally, I believe that verse with others like it [eg. Lk. 17] completely annuls chiliasm and corrects false ideas about the Messiah, which one finds both then and now...but that's just my opinion.)

Contra,
I'm still working my way thru all the end-times ideas. Are you saying that you don't see a 1000 year reign on this earth as it appears to read in Rev? I'm a firm believer that scripture is its own witness and for a long time I really couldn't find a witness to that idea - then I began seeing Adam's time in the Garden as the needed witness, and again Hashem dwelling among the Israelites in the Tent of Meeting, so I'm leaning in that direction more and more.

I believe that the whole of the Book of Revelation is given in symbols (as it says in the first verse), so that the Millennium, like everything else, is a symbol for something. I think this makes sense in the light of Jesus' own words about the Kingdom and Paul's words about the authority of the believer. I won't go into it, but that's it in a nutshell.

OK....sounds interesting.
