  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Heresies

Gal 5:19-21 "... heresies... those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Divisions (dissensions) come together with heresies. (The word used in Gal 5 is "hairesis" in Gk.) Paul writes, "first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. For there must also be heresies among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you." 1Cor 11:18,19 If there's a group or individual who, in pride, wants to be recognized and approved, they will characteristically introduce heresies so as to have an illegitimate basis of distinguishing themselves from others. There are whole denominations in the Christian community who live like this.

Peter uses the same Greek word "hairesis" in this passage. "But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction." 2Peter 2:1 These are they who view freedom of Christ is a license to sin and thus deny the Lordship of Christ. For "He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." 2Cor 5:15

Heretics are hell bound.

Christianity was born in an context of "heresies" having taken over the God-ordained God-initiated nation-church at Sinai. See Mark 7:6-13 and also the ending of Matt 23.

heresies were in the first century church as Paul warns in Gal 1:6-9 and Acts 17.

It is the world we live in. But sola scriptura testing is the solution.
