• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have you guys noticed this...

In our world, no two people are born exactly alike. There's always a distinction/difference between two people.

However, this variation, sometimes winds up dividing people (race/religion/class, etc), which I think is sad.

If people did not have distinctions (in appearence or otherwise), things would get boring very quickly. Variety makes our world interesting, and different.

Stare at a wall... literally go stare at a wall... you'll be begging to look at any other object too. It's the same with people. Peope should look different, so the world isn't boring.

Do you agree? Disagree? Anyone?

I think it's unfortunate when people mistake differences that add spice and variety (ethnicity, height, hair/eye color, etc.) for differences that are either unhealthy or inherently harmful (religion, weight).

While it is certainly admirable to praise certain differences, it doesn't make sense for overweight people to say "I love being overweight. This is how I'm meant to be!"

That's a great point RyanLeeParis. So true. Your eyes do tend to wander if required to stare at a blank wall. Praise God that He made us all so different! :)
That's how I'm thinking now days... when I feel a tendency to judge people's looks, I just quickly think "what if we all looked the same?" It makes me quickly appreciate differences in our world.

I'm pretty certain that about 95% or more of the people who are overweight don't want to be. It can be a huge psychological struggle for them and people who add extra tension because of it can also add to things like depression.

It's tearing people down for things that are sometimes difficult to control.

Yes I agree, being a non-Christian is inherently harmful. Is it more hateful comming from me then it is from you?

As far as being overweight, I don't think most people want to be overweight, however they have difficulty controling it. I don't think I've ever heard someone say that they "love being overweight."
