Have you gotten a vaccine shot?

There may be other threads on this but, I haven't seen them. I thought it would interesting to know who has gotten a shot, which vaccine and their experience. I'll start. :)

I got the Moderna Vaccine about 3 weeks ago. I had a sore arm and felt a bit rundown for a day, but really no other side affects. (Not nearly as bad as the Shingles shot.) I will post again, after the second dose, which is supposed to have more side affects. The hardest part was trying to schedule the vaccine, it was quite the challenge!

I was vaccinated last summer as a participant in the Pfizer clinical trial. I got the first shot in mid- Aug., and the second in early Sept. Of course, at that time, the trial was placebo controlled and double blinded. So I didn't know with certainty if I received the vaccine, or 2 saline injections. But I was pretty sure I got the vaccine. My arm got sore several hours after the shots. Which would be extremely unlikely if I got the placebo. The soreness only lasted a day or so. And I had no other side effects. When the vaccine was approved for use last Dec., Pfizer unblinded the study. And I was informed that I was, in fact, in the experimental group that received the vaccine.

I'm still a participant in the trial. Every week, I report on a phone app if I have any Covid symptoms, such as fever, weakness, cough, shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste, etc. And obviously, if I'm diagnosed with Covid, I have to report it ASAP. I also get regular blood tests to check for antibody levels. But that data hasn't yet been released. The testing goes on for 2 years. It's vitally important to know if the antibody titers persist or wane over time. And--for full disclosure--trial subjects are compensated. We get $119 for each in-person visit for antibody testing, and $5 for each weekly phone app report. But I'd do it without being paid. It's the least i can do to help fight the pandemic.

Interesting. I was surprised that they aren't doing some kind of follow-up (including reactions to the vaccine) on the general public getting the vaccine. I believe they are in some other countries. (Japan) In a sense I still feel like I'm in a pseudo beta group and some kind of follow-up would probably be helpful for the vaccine developers.

Yes here in the UK I've had the Oxford ??? Version of the vaccine.
Reaction sore arm for two days, but the same evening felt I was going down with the flue. Aching muscles and a severe chill.
The wife has had the power version, only had a sore arm.

Yes, in January I had the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine. I had mild flu symptoms next morning which lasted a couple of hours. I was treated to breakfast in bed, so I count it as win-win. We are due to get the second dose in a week or two.

Anybody hesitant about vaccination should consider the alternatives: mild to severe influenza; debilitating long-term weakness and lassitude; a trip to an intensive care unit; death by multiple organ failure on a ventilator. People of my acquaintance have suffered all of these. I have lost two good friends to Covid.

Has anybody experience of problems or complications arising from having one of the vaccines? I have not heard of any.

Pfizer, Moderna, and J & J will definitely be informed of any serious reactions. But I suspect the logistics of trying to collect follow-up data on every person in the world who’s been vaccinated would be a near-impossibility. And an enormous expense. There are 30,000+ subjects in my trial. I was told that this is considered an adequate sample for the results of a clinical trial to have statistical significance.

I had a sore arm and felt a little seedy the day after my 2nd Moderna shoot, but on the whole rather better than after the first shot.

Approaching 18,000,000 people have been vaccinated in England to date (not counting Wales, Scotland and N.Ireland). There have been no problems reported that I am aware of. there have been some re-infections but not serious enough for hospitalisation. Hospitals are reducing covid patients every day.

If people are wary of vaccination they should be encouraged by this. We have been getting the Pfizer and Oxford vaccines. They are protective and safe.

What are the results of the two and five year studies?

That's all very well for you, but how much of a "Covid is a fake cooked up by Biden and China to make Trump look bad and the vaccine is being imposed on us to make us submissive to the rule of the Antichrist during the great reset" movement do you have there in Blighty? In this country it appears to be only slightly less than half the population.

What are the results of the two and five year studies?

According to Pew Research poll data released last month, 30% of the US population don’t intend to be vaccinated.

Growing Share of Americans Say They Plan To Get a COVID-19 Vaccine – or Already Have

If that’s true, then here’s a prediction:

At 2 years, unvaccinated individuals will be 22.5% of the population. The other 7.5% will have died of Covid,

At 5 years, the unvaccinated will be 7.5%. All the rest will have gotten vaccinated. Or will be dead.

I had my first dose this morning,( now p.m. ) Astra zenica
( UK ) and I feel rotten, mild flu symptoms but no headache, but just couldn't get warm, faux fur coat on inside the house, clutching a hot water bottle, with a fan heater blasting me 2 feet away, ice cold hands, ugh! Buzzing all over, hmph! I always did overreact to things, hubby totally fine after his shot.
Pah!

Thought I'd throw this out. I heard from a friend, who has a friend, who works in some sort of immunization industry....yes, this advice will be that reliable.
That if you take the following 3 things before your vaccine, it will reduce your reaction symptoms.
  1. 500mg of Vitamin C.
  2. 1-20mg Pepcid i.e. Famotidine.
  3. 1 Zyrtec i.e. Cetirizine.
Have no idea if this really helps, but it seems benign enough, that I will probably try it before my second shot. Any thoughts on this?

There are some people who are reluctant, many of whom have a BAME background. Some Muslims believe it may contain pork. There are some who believe the vaccine was developed using cells from aborted foetuses. Some are distrustful of authority.

I do not think anybody believes it is a 'fake cooked up by Biden and China to make Trump look bad'. From our perspective Trump looks bad anyway.

Absolutely nobody here believes rubbish such as this: 'the vaccine is being imposed on us to make us submissive to the rule of the Antichrist during the great reset'.
