Have you got a minute to spare? I've uploaded several songs that I wrote on the internet and I'm looking for some feedback. It's all instrumental, (you really don't want to hear me sing). I try to target a general audience, but I can't guarentee that you'll like it. None of my stuff is really that good, but I'm looking to improve.

But here's the link: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/2/sierraponcemusic.htm. Unless you already have an account with soundclick, you'll want to just hit "play hi-fi" next to each song. And please, if you would be kind enough to leave feedback, please be brutally honest.

Thanks all. I greatly appreciate it. :)

Ok so far I've listened to the two first tracks, and the first thing I noticed is how crisp and clear that guitar sounds; I'm assuming (based on the slide sound in "Winning Ways") that it's from a keyboard?

May I ask, what keyboard and sequencer do you use for this?

I really like the patterns you use for the guitar chords/progressions. They have a real nice sound to them; very real sounding too; very pleasent and easy to listen to. I think you have alot of potential, truly.

I would highly recommend you try lawering symphonic/orchestral patterns over your beautiful guitar lines. The combination of the two would help produce a magnificent and powerful duo.

Ok, now I'm listening to Immaculate. The piano again sounds very real and clear; it's actually *very* beautiful. I'm quite impressed, but that harpsichord doesn't sound like it fits quite right (I blame the poor keyboard replication) The strings also don't sound as real, but I am biased. I tried every keyboard out there before I found the one who's strings/orchestral pathces actually sounded like a real symphony (Roland). But this song sounds beautiful. I absolutely love the progression you do with the strings/piano/guitar.

Ok now I'm listening to Acceptence. It too has nice progressions. You must be a guitar player because it's clear that you can do very good progressions/key changes. The little guitar solo in there is cool too; almost sounds like a real guitar but not quite. The keybaords of today lack realistic temolo/slide sounds, but that's the keyboards fault not yours.

Also, peraly gates didn't load up for some reason, so i couldn't listen to it.

Overall I like Immaculate the best, mainly because of the piano and strings duo. I also think Temptation has *alot* of potential to be a hit with a good vocal track and live instruments; it's got a real nice progression, but i think may need a little more there besides just the guitar alone.

Hope this helps!!

No keyboards involved. Every track was written on guitar, then written on a sheet music-to-MIDI program I found followed by assigning each track to various sound-font that I've spent weeks collecting on the internet, then converted to mp3 format. It is a very time-consuming process, but doesn't cost me a dime. When I get some money, I want to get some profesional recording equipment.

I've played around with adding some synth, but couldn't find anything I liked. Maybe I'll try it again.

Which harpsichord are you refering to? Can you tell me the time that it starts playing?

I was relectant to add this song because it didn't really translate nearly as well as I wanted it to. I couldn't get a good rhythm guitar sound, which really ruined the whole thing.

Also, peraly gates didn't load up for some reason, so i couldn't listen to it.

The site seems to have problems every now and then. Give it another try if you've got a moment. It's really nothing that musically advance; just a couple neat melodic samples I threw together.

Overall I like Immaculate the best, mainly because of the piano and strings duo.

Once I converted this song to mp3 format, it didn't sound right, so I had to change some of the instruments around, thus the violin was added. The unfortunate result was I had to delete another synth voice that accompanied the guitar, so there are some parts that don't sound complete. But I'm glad you liked this one. I was wondering if anybody would notice them, or maybe it's just me because I know what to expect.

I also think Temptation has *alot* of potential to be a hit with a good vocal track and live instruments; it's got a real nice progression, but i think may need a little more there besides just the guitar alone.

I know what you mean. But I can't write lyrics or sing at all. I guess I'll have to find somebody else to do this. :)

Hope this helps!!

Yes, it was a ton of help. Thank you very much for your input. I greatly apprieciate you taking the time to write all this.

I'm pretty impressed. For GM sounds (General Midi), it sounds very good. Your music will sound truly awesome once you get the proper equipment (btw, I used to make music the same way).

about 30 seconds in. But it's no biggie; it the GM harpsichord sound that just doesn't sound real to me, but I have a sensitive ear.

I'll play around with it and see if I can get some better results. It's actually supposed to be a Fender Stratocaster (guitar) with a chorus effect on it, and it sounds remarkably close. But I do think it sounds kind of out of place at the beginning. A different guitar might suit the song better.

Thanks again.

DT,

This could be more than a hobby for you someday! I really enjoyed listening to them all.

I hope I won't offend you when I say that (in some parts) they sound like the kind of music that comes out of my kids gameboys/Playstation when they are playing x-men or something! I could listen to that music quite happily while reading...mood music

DT, while on the subject of music, do you know of a way to record voice for free on the computer or on the web ?

You are really talented, i'm going to listen to them again :)

God Bless.

I'm flattered, ukok.

Sure. Most computers already have a sound recorder program built it with Windows. Go to Start, Accessories, Entertainment, and then Sound Recorder. Just plug in your microphone and hit record.

Thank you very much. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to them.

DT, it was my pleasure to listen to them, they sounded very professional :)

Do you know how to upload a soundfile to the internet for free ? Also, The kids and I have played around with recording ourselves via a microhphone, but I was wondering what the scope is for recording it to disk to turn it into a gift to give to their grandparents for example.

Thanks!

God Bless.

Ah, I misunderstood your question. You would need some website to be able to put a soundclip on the internet. If it is relatively small, I'm sure that any site will take it. If it's bigger, you might have to use a page specifically for sound uploading, such as the one I used: www.soundclick.com.

What do you mean by the scope for recording? Do you have a CD burner?

that's because video games use the same type sound engine DT is using (i.e., midi). If DT wanted, he could get a synthesizer/keyboard (like a Roland Fantom) and create a version of each of those songs that sounds like it's a real live perfromance.
