I broke my arm using my 4-wheeled roller skate as a skateboard. I was 13 years old. Had my sock-ed foot on top of the roller skated foot, going down the street, and then BLAMO. I hit a loose pebble and did a facer into the pavement, saving my nose with my arm.

I told my friends that my parents were going to kill me and then I went inside. I told my mom what happened and that my arm hurt and she basically gave me the mom equivalent of "walk it off".

6:30 at night, on a gorgeous night, and I'm bed reading and crying, so she finally realizes I might actually be hurt. The arm itself on the surface didn't look broken, it was barely scraped and there was no bruise, but the weird way I was acting was enough for her. Have you felt that weird feeling when you break a bone? Like you get shivers when you try to move it? That kept me pretty immobilized. Yuck.

So, we went to the ER and I was half-casted immediately and full casted something like 3 days later, all the way up to the elbow.

This was also before colored casts, so I feel I was deprived of a pink cast.
