Have you ever been listening to someone saying something about God and claiming to be christian and yet you find yourself marking them?

I have done this many times (very much on these forums). I will be reading someones post and suddenly I find myself knowing the type of spirit they have.

This goes for the not so obvious posts too. Like one person will say "I am a christian" and another may say "I am not a christian" but I will see both as "I am not a christian".

Has anyone else expirianced this? IT goes for outside of this forum too. It is as though I can sence at times what is really going on with someone.

I think if you throw dirt you only lose ground. Being there for someone involves many things. And we are called to return a fellow believer not shut them out.

Only God can judge who is a christian but discerning the spirit that the person is speaking from at the time is important.

We are as we think.

Look not for the human mistakes in others, but rather for the spirit of God, who is in all. And do not mistake presumption for relevation.

i agree. many times christians fall away from God, and sometimes a person that is Christian doubts their salvation when they are struggling or they listen too much to judgmental people.

Sanctification ... like men , takes time ...consider the passage : 1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me ... right thing for wrong reason or wrong thing for right reason ... impetuousness of youth ...

As Jesus rebuked the disciples for desiring to call down fire from heaven upon the pharisees and saducees .. as they had the "wrong spirit" within them ... wrong thing for the wrong reason ...

until we can follow the 11th commandment , love as God loves ... correct with love , genlty , slowly ... being a barnabus to them ... the right thing for the right reason ...

I just can't seem to find the place in the bible where Jesus told us we should be "marking" people. Only God knows our true heart, sometimes it even surprises us.

Whoa people. Hold your horses. I think you have mistaken this. I am not talking about assumption. But you can see the fruits of someone. Even in their words people betray themselves.

One speaks and sayes "I am a christian but I do not believe everything in the bible is true." This person has no foundation and holds no true faith in Jesus. It is true we are not to judge...but at the same time we do. The reason is because of the spirit. Our spirit judges based on what God speaks.
