I'm a conservative Presbyterean (Protestant). I find it odd that at least here in the US the 2,000 years of women putting on hats or similar while attending Church disappear in a couple of decades across both liberal, conservatives Protestant and Roman Churches. I was wondering if a similar change has occured among y'all. I am NOT looking for an argument (though y'all can argue amongst yourselves if you'd like. I simply am curious if the strange sudden disregard for 1Cor 11:4 had occured amongst you as it has in my Church.

Que bola acere!
Well in my church women dont really use hats.. but i've seen in other advent. churches women using hats. But doesn't 1 corinth 11:4 talk about men and women having and prophecising with hair or not?

Within a few decades, it has also become acceptable for women to wear pants rather than dresses. I know several people who object to this trend and quote this verse to support their view:

Deuteronomy 22:5 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.

What I usually tell them is that this isn't referring to pants because in Bible times, men didn't wear pants either. When both men and women wore robes, there must have been some other characteristics that distinguished men's clothing from women's clothing. Pants are not considered exclusively men's apparel anymore, but men's and women's pants are designed differently. We have to look at these texts in context and find the underlying principles to determine how they apply to us.

Another question that comes to mind when considering 1 Corinthians 11: is it wrong for a woman to have short hair? Also, if head covering is a sign of authority (v. 10), are there principles that we can still apply even though most women don't wear hats or veils anymore?
