  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Have we ever gotten it right?

I was doing my daily scripture reading the other day when I can across a section in Judges where humans repeated a message from an angel but they didn’t really retell it 100% accurately. It reminded me of how Eve added to the rules about the fruit.

Question 1) How many times do angelic beings or God tell man a message?

Question 2) Of the number from question 1, how many times does man repeat that message to another human?

Question 3) How many times, if ever, have we transmitted that message accurately? (Percentage or times)

If you carefully check the synoptic Gospels you will see errors in human interpretation of what they saw and what the heard and timing of events but that is how we know that they are reliable, overall the facts remain the same but the perspective of the individual shows.

this question wasn’t a critique of the reliability of scripture. This was more of a curious link I saw between men or women not retelling heavenly messages as accurately as they could have and my reflection of what this might mean. Like if scripture tells us that man many times adds or makes errors when retelling heavenly messages it might teach us an important lesson about humility and discernment.

I’m not trying to undercut the Bible, just learn what the Lord is trying to communicate to us through his word.

In computing, we have a quality control-type number called a checksum. All of the data that is received by the second computer is added up [summed] as they are received. Then the checksum is received. If the last [four?] digits of the sum equals the checksum, it is assumed that all of the data was received correctly.

Christians have John 14:26.

Jesus said,
If you love Me, keep My commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may abide with you forever
the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive,
because it neither sees Him nor knows Him;
but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
" John 14:15-17 NKJV

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,
He will teach you all things,
and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
"

Yes and I am simply telling you that there misstatements but they do not cause a loss of the message. What you are doing is good, you are paying attention to what is said in the Bible and learning from it, do not be afraid of it, it will not be broken if a few of the things in it are not exactly perfect.
