You got it about right in your previous thread. It's impossible for you to have committed the unforgivable sin if you are seeking forgiveness, and especially if you never meant to think those things. Christiananswers.net has a good page on it - search for 'unforgivable sin'. :)
I would tend to agree. Someone sent me a link to this Christian concerning that "Sin" though I was actually more impressed with his 8 part series on the "Melchizedek" of the Bible.
I haven't really read this in awhile as I had it in a folder from quite awhile back. But as with any view or commentary from others, always TEST it against the Scriptures and the Spirit. Peace.

THE UNPARDONABLE SINhttp://www.theshop.net/gjess/unpardsin.htm#The Unpardonable Sin

One of the most intriguing descriptions of the unique character of the High Priesthood of Jesus is found in Heb. 7:17 wherein it is stated, "Thou art a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek." This one grand statement shows that Jesus is not like any of the other priests who the people of Israel knew so much about. The entire seventh chapter of Hebrews is about THE MELCHIZEDEK CONNECTION,

Hebrews 7:1 For this the Malkiy-Tsedeq, King of Salem, Priest of the GOD of the most-high, the together-joining Abraham turning-back from the smiting of the kings, and did bless him. [Genesis 14:18]
12 For being changed/translated the Priesthood, out of necessity also, of Law a change is becoming.

1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

Remember what is stated in John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life." The only condition when someone would have no forgiveness is if that someone is not among the "whoever believes in Him." By asking God to forgive you for these thoughts you are demonstrating you are among the "whoever believes in Him".

Continue to pray to God and ask him to remove those thoughts from your mind and strengthen you in your faith. Deuteronomy 7:9 "Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands"

Sometimes when you get things in your head, you keep repeating it and feeling guilty about it. I used to think weird things that bothered me and my aunt reassured me. She told me something that then had ME thinking it (sigh) but she got her point across. Sometimes thoughts cant be controlled when they first come, and if they're on your mind heavily you may keep repeating them. Just pray and know you're always forgiven when you seek repentance.

There is a difference between you actually thinking and really "saying" a thought or if a thought was placed in your head. However, according to Corinthians, we can even take these thoughts captive. We'll be praying for you.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

i always thought that the unforgivable sin was when someone refused to believe that jesus the messiah until they die. that would be blasphemy against the holy spirit, since the holy spirit is also called the spirit of truth, and jesus is truly the messiah.

anyways, superman, as long as you honestly ask for god's forgiveness, he will forgive you. you're safe.

Matthew 12:30 : "He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather wth me scatters. And SO i tell you every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but that blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come" Mark 3:28: "I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." So as you can see if you blasphemy the Holy Spirit then yes you will go to Hell, and no, you cannot be forgiven so perhaps you should have thought about that before you denied the Lord and the Holy Spirit. I give you no sympathy and I hope you enjoy your eternal suffering in Hell.

FYI, we don't need to ask for forgiveness. He's already forgiven us (even mankind) for ALL sin. All we have to do is confess our sin. Naming our sin means that we acknowledge our wrong. Once we know what we've done wrong, we no longer have a wall between our fellowship and God (ie, we can communicate freely with Him).

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

By your view, you are suggesting that God is somehow unable to forgive someone who says something against Him/thinks a bad thought. This is basically open theism i.e. denying God's foreknowledge of the future. (Open theism is widely regarded as heresy.) It may be true that God wills not to forgive if someone persists in sin and never repents, but this is completely different. By doing this a person is assuming a position for themselves on the same level as God by thinking that they are above asking for forgiveness. One of the definitions of blasphemy is "the act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God". (I'm sorry, I'm not really trying to attack you, I just want to get my point across.)
Superman, PM me if you need to talk about it.

Did you even think about what you were saying when you were writing that? (Apart from anything else you're showing an incredibly unChristian attitude.) Excuse me, unchristian? How dare you call me that. I have quoted only what Matthew & Mark have said which is straight from the Bible. Are you calling the Holy Bible unchristian? Then perhaps you yourself are blasphemizing our Lord. I am not suggesting that God is unable to forgive someone for this sin, rather, God does not want to. I don't blame Him, to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is asking for an eternity in Hell. To even question what the bible teaches us is wrong and it is you that is "unchristian".

Just a friendly reminder from the rules:

  • Flaming, baiting, trolling, or feeding trolls is not allowed. This also applies to groups. In other words, play nice, don't hurt others, nor call them names.

  • If you think you are being flamed, choose *not* to be offended, but instead take a break, and communicate, rather than escalating or accusing others.
I would hate to have to close this thread for a cool-off period.

Kalby The Unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit is called so for one reason. When someone Curses God and his works that usually means he hasn't been saved. How can someone who hates the gift be saved? So it is called unforgivable because someone doing this completely on their own will without the harasment of satan isn't going to accept Christ. In superman's case the devil and his followers are bombarding Superman's mind with false ideas trying to make him believe there is no hope that he can't have eternal life anymore; when in fact You are sealed by the holy spirit the moment you accept Jesus's Works on the cross you already have eternal life and NOTHING!! Can take that away from you even thoughts forced into your mind which by the way with prayer and patients you Will Learn to Block and Keep from coming back.

Superman You are in my Prayers
God Bless!!

I don't know why you're trying to sugar coat the unforgivable sin, because our Lord was very serious when he made this rule. blas·pheme /blæsˈfim, ˈblæsfim/ Pronunciation KeyPronunciation[blas-feem, blas-feem] –verb (used with object) 1. to speak impiously or irreverently of (God or sacred things). 2. to speak evil of; slander; abuse. It doesn't get any more straight forward than that.
