Hi, I'm SingPeace.

I'm not Jewish, so I hope it's okay that I post this here. I didn't know where else to go to ask this question.

I recently stumbled upon Hebrew Gematria; something I had never heard of before, and I am just blown away. At first I was skeptical so I spent hours online researching it, and no article discredited it. Everything I read said that Gematria is real.

My question is; does anyone know much about it, and if so, is there a Gematria for dummies book or website?

Thanks for any advice.

O, one more question. Does anyone know how long since this phenomena was discovered?

Thanks again.

Shalom!

Gematria is indeed a fascinating study. There is Jewish gematra as well as Christian and pagan.

I am assuming you are asking about the Jewish Gematria? Since the Hebrew alef-bet uses it's letters for numbers as well it has been found to make connections by sum of certain words. It has been around for about 2,200 years.

Thanks alot for the info.

Yes, I indeed am most interested in the Jewish Gematria for now as I'm fascinated with Genesis 1:1. Once I get a better understanding of it, I'd like to look at the Greek for the NT; especially Matthew 1:1-17 - Jesus' genealogy.

Thanks again for the input - much appreciated.
