  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hating someone?

Is it wrong that I hate someone?

When I say hate, I mean hate, HATE....

There's this person I work with, who I see 5 days out of 7, and I really really despise this person to the point I have to actively avoid him, sometimes trying to pre-empt his whereabouts to avoid bumping into him.

And, what makes it worse... is that he's a nice guy, has never done me any harm and is well liked by all of my workmates.

if the worst of it is that you try to avoid him, that sounds more like not liking his presence than hating him. Maybe *severely* not liking his presence, but...you started a phrase with "I really despise this person to the point..." and then you didn't finish that with any fantasies of violence or active sabotaging of his career or life. And you can concede that he's nice.

Sounds fair enough to me. You're having unpleasant feelings, and you're acting on them in a way that does no harm and spares you the unpleasantness.

You identify as an atheist. If you hate Jesus Christ, which is about what atheism amounts to, then it's understandable that you hate another person.

I don't hate Bob. Well, who is Bob? Someone who I never met has an imaginary friend named Bob. I don't believe in Bob and I don't hate Bob.

While I may believe in Jesus Christ, some Atheist don't, that doesn't mean they hate him.

Sure it does. You can't reject the One who is Love and not hate Him. Your Bob is imaginary. Jesus Christ is real. And if you don't love Him, you hate Him.

And yes, it is just that black and white.

1 John 4:20
If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

Wouldn’t Jesus be against knowingly misrepresenting someone else’s opinions?

Why would I knowingly misrepresent somebody's opinion? We have an atheist saying that they hate someone.

If you don't love God because you don't believe there is a God, then you hae Him.

Where's the misrepresentation?

If TCD hates another person why is it such a stretch of the imagination to some of you that TCD also hates God?

Where's the misrepresentation?

You have over 7,000 posts. I would think you would have been on the forums long enough to be aware that it is not the norm for atheists to proclaim hatred of Jesus.

Tower Crane came here asking an honest question. He never even mentioned Jesus.

You are intentionally misrepresenting atheists. Again, would the Jesus you believe in approve of this action?

People who love Jesus take EVERYTHING right back to the foot of the Cross. An atheist doesn't have to proclaim hatred of Jesus. The fact that they proclaim there is no GOD proclaims that they hate Jesus.

So if you can hate the One Who is love---the perfect, Holy Creator of all things--- why would Christians in a Christian forum be surprised that you hate a man who walks the same sinful ground as you do?

You are intentionally misrepresenting atheists. Again, would the Jesus you believe in approve of this action?

On the contrary, I am BIBLICALLY representing how an atheists feels.

lol no, you're wrong.

you can't actively hate something you don't believe in.

If I say "I hate unicorns", I don't really hate them; I'm just not very smart.

------------------

but as a Christian, you must hate the devil, so, its understanable that you would hate another person, correct?

-------------------

thats a terrible line of logic to use. It is what is known as an "irrational thought." Ever met someone with OCD? Someone who rips hair out of their face bc they think its the right thing to do? They have what are known as unhealthy and irrational thoughts. Something unhealty to the individual, and to society whollistically.
