CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All depends I guess.
It is morally wrong however to accuse all those with whom you have political disagreements of being motivated by "hate". It is a reprehensible tactic because it resonates with less informed, more emotional segments of society who, for various reasons, are incapable of making rational decisions. As such it hurts society as a whole, including those who are targets of the tactic.

such is the human condition, I guess. While a human can feel much more compassionate and fufilled trying to live a life free of hate, i must argue that no human was free of good and bad things, it is all part of being human. Jesus, Buddha, and other religious figures that take the form of men all experienced some form of dislike or other human flaw, often before finding enlightenment in forgiveness. But that is not to say one must be a doormat. The trick is to live as compassionately as you can, in my view.

In one sense, I don't think we can say it is morally wrong to hate someone, because hate is simply an emotive response. On the other hand, I think we do possibly have a moral obligation as individuals to act out of love rather than hate, and to try to cultivate virtues within ourselves.
I don't think it is really wrong to hate a thing, though, whether it be something abstract like injustice or the colour red or something tangible like asparagus or a particular wallpaper.
Real and passionate hatred, though, can be very destructive in my opinion.

From a psychological standpoint, Hate is not an emotion, but a secondary emotion, usually stemming from being hurt - sadness.
The sadness is turned into anger, and becomes hatred.

Hate Evil - yes.
Hate People - That is like drinking poison and thinking the other person will get sick. - so NO.
