Has Noah's Ark really been discovered?

I will have to read some more, but for now I doubt if anyone has really found the ark. However, I do believe there was a world wide flood and that the biblical witness is true. I just question some modern day finds in the area of apologetics....notice I said 'question' and not 'reject'....I am still contemplating the matter.

I Would Think If The Ark Was Discovered Then Why Not Report It In The New York Times. Many Books Written About The Ark Being Sited.
I Believe In The Global Flood Even Though The Ark Has Not Been Discovered Yet.

They've made a documentary out of it. I've watched it. It's quite good - don't know if it's convincing, because I was already convinced before watching the movie that the Great Flood happened and whether we can find the Ark is secondary.

are you saying that the documentary shows significant footage of the boat? Do the explorers know the exact location now? thanks

theres another related website link on that site and i saw the photos. you cant really tell if its the ark from the photos, but from what they say they filmed of an interior structure maybe. im looking forward to this documentary. The ark is secondary though, we walk by faith, thanks for reminding me.

Yeah. They supposedly got up really close to the boat (like, next to it), but didn't go in because it was too dangerous. They did take footage of the boat, and claimed that the place was protected by spirits...but they didn't take anything away with them because they promised the local Kurds to not do so, because to them, this place was sacred.

EDIT: Apart from talking about the Ark itself, they also came up supporting evidence, such as the theory of pre-Flood civlisation and engineering (e.g. the Egyptian pyramids were not built by Ancient Egypt as we know it, but an Egyptian civilisation before the Flood; and pointers to an underwater city off the coast of Taiwan - with remains of pyramid-style structures).

Umm, I'm an Egyptologist, and I can tell you plainly that we know how and when the Pyramids were built. Don't let people deceive you otherwise.

I was plainly summarising. I shall keep my mind open.

The counterargument is, of course, that there is some sort of evidence presented in the movie that the earliest pyramids were built by the pre-Flood civilisations. The theory is that when Noah's descendents eventually came to Egypt, they found the remains and copied them for the later pyramids.

This is a summary of the movie's argument, not necessarily where I stand.

dragon, can you let us know (details) what you saw in the documentary? Did the footage look convincing? Did they stand on the roof of the structure? How do they know it wasn't a cave? i cant tell from the photos. How did you get to see the film?

Basically, the documentary says that this team of Hong Kong Christian explorers wanted to go look for the ark with an American team. But the Turkish military only allowed passes for the Hong Kongers - because they were Chinese, apparently - and so they plotted from satellite data and went.

The footage looked good. They actually straight went up to the ark - assuming that it is the ark - and filmed inside. It was basically a cave structure in the snow. However, they said the structure isn't hardcore stone. They pointed out that there were beams and a staircase in the ice inside the structure. Well, one would hardly find 90 degree structures in natural caves, right? They found out the space inside was huge, by throwing stones inside the hole and listening for the echoes. They didn't stand on the roof, because the roof was covered with snow.

They claimed that this is not the entire remains of the ark, because the ark supposedly broke into two during an earthquake in the 19th century. Apparently a late elderly relative of one of the Kurdish guides had explored this structure and brought back some samples of wheat, which he sent to Tehran and got them checked. The relative revealed the secret to the guide only on the relative's deathbed.

They also talked about the area being protected by spirits. If the a local Kurdish shepherd lost sheep in this valley he would not go and look for the sheep. Also, when the camera panned towards the ark, apparently the tape was disturbed, and the camera showed signals that is wasn't supposed to show, like "No Recording" for no apparent reason. They also claimed that their watches stopped or something.

I got to watch the movie because it was released in Hong Kong in the Easter of 2004, and later in Chinese communities over the world.

That's a counter argument? There's no evidence for that. We know where the Egyptians got their idea for the Pyramids: Sumeria. That's why the earliest pyramids look like ziqqurats.

Actually, it was also part of their religion, and there are arguments about who was first or whether they were independent. Regardless.

dragon, in the film, were the structures obviously crossbeams and staircases to you or were they vague. Also do you know if they will ever show this film in the United States? Why dont the Americans know about this?

Just a thought about your last sentence, the secular media hardly is supportive of biblical archaeology unless it's been debunked or proven fraudulent. For example, a much bigger deal was made of the "James ostuary" when it was deemed a fraud then when it was discovered. The press was all over that.

Remember, we are to be in the world, but not of it....
