The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.
If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.
If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Im On Lexapro right now For Anxiety and want a more holistic approach, Ever Since I started Lexapro Ive been Irritable with continuous mood swings. Not To Mention my OCD Has taken a toll for the worse. Sounds interesting!

How specifically do you feel it helped you? I gave one to my husband and daughter today. He said it made him feel calmer.

My dosage is 400mg first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, an enteric coated tablet. When I read up on it, the best suggestion I could get on dosage was that the range is wide, from 200 to 2000 daily but usually based on weight. I'm pretty small so I went with the 400 and that seems to be fine. I also eat a really clean diet, take a big dose of purified fish oil, make sure I get proper exercise and full spectrum light. There is little evidence of side effects that I could find. The only thing is that a too high dose made some folks feel nervous, a side effect of too much serotonin, and when they reduced the dose the nervousness went away. And some had digestive issues with a too high dose. SAMe, as you've probably read, has been used in European countries for decades, studied extensively, and found very effective for the majority of users.
I don't, however, know anything about using it with Concerta or other drugs. You might want to call a pharmacist or do some research on that.

I never found these supps helpful, then again even prescription meds don't have much affect on me because mine is more geared as borderline personality disorder, so basically my depression comes and goes in huge bursts and is more geared towards how I perceive the world rather than a chemical imbalance.
