Well I don't think recounting personal experience equates with dewelling on the devil. Now, if asked if I thought we should engage in study of the occult for academic purposes I would say most certainly not. Spending too much time thinking about the devil is not spiritually healthy, but on the the other hand it is unwise to ignore the devil or to pretend as if he doesn't exist.
I thank God that I've never seen as it were a demon, but I've certainly had times where I felt clearly temptation in a manner that was as a being speaking to me and not coming from myself. I say that as I understand that these experiences were very different experiences from being tempted by one's weak flesh, ie I'm tried so I feel like skipping prayer and going right to bed.
One thing I noticed strongly in the Mormon church was the idea that you should pray to know the BoM was true and when you got the answer you'd feel a warm feeling in your chest. I'm certain no shortage of demons would be happy to provide this feeling if it keeps someone from finding Christ.
