They fit a 734 page book into a 2.5 hour long movie. They had to leave stuff out. Winky and Dobby do not appear in the movie, nor is there mention of the dementor's kiss at the end.

I know they had to leave stuff out because it was too long, but I was just saying that they left out so much and even some characters like Winky and Dobby that it made it go a little too fast-paced.

I hope they don't leave much out of Ootp and HBP. Those books are very important.

Something I've always thought, since everyone is always trying to predict what will happen in the end: don't you think that JKR is telling them exactly what to put in and wht to take out? I mean, she knows, in the end, what will happen. And if they get it messed up in the movies now, it will be impossible to fix it later.

So maybe JKR is telling us what to focus on?

exactly. the script writer and rowling work very closely together to ensure that no flubs like that happen.

I saw the movie last night and really enjoyed it. Of course nothing tops the books, however, as a visual representation I thought it was excellent.

totally. I have my own pet theories about Neville... it'll be exciting to read book 7 and see how many of them pan out.

I've been wondering about Neville as well - I haven't see this movie yet, but I wonder what sort of talent his character is hiding behind all the clumsiness and forgetfullness.

I know Neville will live and become a Teacher at Hogwarts, there is so much forshadowing on him becoming a teacher.

No doubt that Neville will play a big role. JKR has said that herself. But, did you notice that, of all the secondary characters in this movie, he had a big part?
