Harry Potter: Blasphemy or not?

Someone brought up weed that it was made by God. Yes this is true.

So are poisons in snakes, spiders, jellyfish, various mushrooms, berries, and other plants that can injure/kill you.
And so was the Tree of Knowledge, which we were told not to partake of.

I really don't care what people do to themselves, but I just thought up that just because God put it on earth does not mean we are supposed to put it inside of ourselves.

And ironicly enough, a plant which causes absolutely no harm to you, and is impossible to kill you can land you in jail for 10+ years, but possession of poisons, snakes, spiders, jellyfish, poisonous mushrooms, berries and such is not illegal.

No but we have that option, given to us by God.

Yes, we have the option-but what God placed on this earth wasn't all designed for ingestion, inhalling, or whatnot. It could very well be that He designed the plant for uses in poultices.

And not every plant was designed for our use-after all, it says that the thistle was placed here just to annoy us (and it certainly does a good job).

You don’t have to smoke it, you can eat it, vaporize it… there are tons of methods. God said that he gave us herbs to use, marijuana is a herb.

Like everything else, the enemy takes God’s creation and perverts it.

Opium is made from poppies.

Can we say it is okay to take opium?

I certainly believe that God made marijuana but NOT for the use of MIND ALTERING experiences.

GOD also created the forbidden apple in the Garden of Eden but what was his INSTRUCTION regarding that.

Once we understand God’s word and how we should live we submit too His guidance and the closer we desire to get to Him means the more WE WANT to give up dope, smoking, alcohol, drugs, sexual and abusive relationships, incestuous relationships, and all things that God tell us are abominations.

The Bible is very clear about these things.

God also created gold and most of this planet worships that. If we go back to the OT how many times we hear of people making images out of gold and worshiping them.

Anything that puts itself above Christ is from satan.

this thread sems to have moved away from the Harry Potter question, I do nto personally find the books blasphmous they are a story about good vs evil and any one old enough to read them understands the difference between fantasy and reality, My son loves the films, he is 8 and he understands that it is just make believe.

Brother,

The way I understand your reply is that you are trying to defend dope smoking and I believe there are thousands like you that do not take such things to God for the answer to this.

May I suggest that you take this to you pastor or priest and talk to him / her regarding your habit.

If you are told to confess your sins and that everything will be all right remember that confession is part of repentance the other element is to sin no more. To carry on with our sins is that we do not hear the voice of Gods instruction.

Of course the simple way to look at it is, if Jesus was there with you now would you be happy to light up a joint ?

Like the Pope said, only the Catholic Church represents the Christian faith. Other churches are defective.

Everyone else has made good statements on the pot smoking.

Hop onto this site and have a look, it is all about casting spells (see * note below before you do so).

But of course, most CHRISTIANS tend to shrug off the magic, like Harry Potter and say it is harmless and fiction.

It is most interesting that the table listed below lists the first ITEMS to be affected as SHIELDS. Now let me ask you how many people do you see walking down the high street carrying a shield? ARE YOU GETTING THIS HELLO

You do realize that this site is talking about role playing, right? As in "Dungeons and Dragons". It's not referring to any real-life magic. The shield in reference is a literal shield, made of metal, as knights wear in fantasy literature/movies/RPGs.

No were in harry potter does it say that they are greater than God and I would disagree at the notion it encourages anybody into practicing magic because it is fiction and the only ones that would see it possible as non fiction are very young people and they will soon learn if you point a stick and say a word in latin no bright sparks will fly out and harm someone.

Wake up guys, Wicca is a false religion but this is all fantasy and fiction. This doesn't encourage people to become actual Wiccans.

Guess what while some Christians are off worrying about the Witches casting spells on them the atheists are busy convincing your kids that everything they where told in sunday school is wrong and using mom and dad's fear of harry potter to prove that mom and dad are culturally irrelevant.

Wicca and paganism is no longer Satan's tool but his distraction. Atheism and Agnostisim is what is destroying the chruch and if we don't get up and combat it and forget about the stupid witches then we are doomed.
