  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There's probably already a thread on this but...

So the 1st part of HP7 is coming out in like a month and I was wondering if anyone is really looking forward to seeing it. I'm a huge HP fan (borderline obsessed at one point..kidding, kidding) and I want to see it the day it comes out. Any other fans?

Also, is there anyone out there who's opposed to HP on religious grounds? I'm Christian, but I don't see anything wrong with the books/movies. I've had discussions with people who refuse to read the books or view the movies, so if you are anti-HP I can understand where you're coming from. Just curious.

I'm still debating on watching it. On one hand, it looks "Lord of the Rings style epic" the way it was done. On the other hand, the other movies (I've never read the books) were a bit disappointing to me. Something about them just seems very shallow and childish compared to the deep fantasy story lines I'm use to reading.

That being said, we will probably see it because it doesn't look like there is a whole lot else coming to theaters around that time that we will want to see. This Christmas season doesn't look very good for the cinema. :(

I will see it, & probably get it when it comes out on video.
Will not be camping out to be first to see it though.

Fantasy does not have to conflict with religion. Make believe as long as it doesn't confront directly, is fine.

Enjoying a book that includes magic, vampires, or the supernatural does not belittle religion, nor encourage the occult, witchcraft, or belief in powers other then god, in real life.

Make believe is make believe, reality is reality.

We saw it opening day (about 10am, no way were we going at midnight lol).
I haven't read the book yet (but I've read the others) and I thought it was fantastic.
My husband has read the book and he thought so as well.

Can't wait for part 2 in July '11!

Saw it last night.
Can't say it was the best of series, but it is good.

Question: Who was suppose to get married? Did I miss it?

Very good at setting the mood for the movie, very depressing from the start-
Obliviatum----
to the end of one of Harry's friends.

When things are where they seem they can get no worse, that is when the bottom falls out, or you rebound.

Bottom of the ninth, two outs and our team already has one strike against them, two pitches left to be accounted for.

The torture scene was disappointing, I heard the director and the two ladies built up the scene to be great and it was good, but not exceptionally emotional. Could have built into emotional, but it was to short.
Also she never faultered, even after having something burned into her skin. Ron suffered, Harry suffered, but Hermione just bounces right back?
Love tough female characters, but they should be human too.

I've read the whole series and finally saw this installment yesterday! It was very good. I'm glad they broke the last book into 2 films to fully show everything important that happens in the book. Part 1 was great! Can't wait to see the ending! Helena B. Carter was terrific in this one!
The whole scene with ginny and harry zipping up her dress was cringe worthy though.

"Deathly Hallows" is a significant improvement on a previous film slow and boring. Bossy approaching a story that has become so much popcorn distraction of the old, trusted friend is outlined in the family reunion, part of a ruthless slugfest. Harry Potter saga will certainly warm up before it winds down.
