  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How would you guys feel if praise and worship songs like Come, Now is The Time to Worship, Here I am to Worship, and Heart of Worship were turned into Hard Rock songs. Some friends and I were listening to Zao and came up with the idea and thought it would be fun.

I think it would be a good idea, considering the change in today's 'taste in music'. More of the teens and such are turning to hard rock, so maybe if they found hard rock that had gospel, they would turn to Christ. (Songs can have a major impact on people, lol) I for one liking them. So, cya round

Yeah I'm part way through a Rock version of the old Doxology hymn (not finished yet!) But i don't think the youth will like it too much. My band is gonna have it on our Album though (when we get round to writing more songs!)

Of course , yeah.. it's a great idea! I think doing songs that way really puts the zeal back em, that you lose from singing em & hearing em done the same way for the hundredth time all over again.
Honestly for me, I could only wish that such a thing was way more popular and that more churches and praise bands would not just play slow & timid music that they call "worshipful". Worship is powerful and so is praise... so why not reflect that with our music that leads our hearts to openly worship?

hahah. Sorry. That's a lil more than two cents there. ...just something I'm very into.

hey yeh thats a sweet idea, im in a worship band, we got three guitars(2 electric) and a bass and drums and we were just talking about how we'd like to vary our style, thats just the kinda thing we were talking about, rocking out on some of the classics. do you know "every knee will bow"?the simple songs are usually pretty easy to decorate, simple chord progressions, i mean, im not trying to degrade any songs by calling them simple! i think that doing that with some praise songs can make the quieter ones all the more special. but i agree with "jonfelske" above totally. its all in the heart!
god bless

What is so new about Christian Rock music. In the 80s there was Contemporary Gospel music that sounded like Rock music if you didn't hear the words. I've heard the song, "Rock of Ages" and "Victory In Jesus" in a rock sounding version before. Ever heard of Stryper or Petra? Can't think of some of the other old groups but that was 2 of them. Me personally, I like the Contemporary Gospel Music preferably the older stuff and some of the new. Is "I Can Only Imagine" a CGM song or praise and worship?
